This recently completed design for a home extension in Hull added additional space to the home by adding a storey to an existing extension. This allowed for the kitchen to be remodelled to give a contemporary kitchen dining area that has easy access to a modern patio

This extension replaces a small lean-to conservatory. The new extension opens up the end of the house to let more light into the dining area and create a light and airy seating area that has a direct connection to the garden. The side entrance allows the owners to leave their cycles in the yard and their coats and shoes in the lobby before entering the main living/dining area. A small WC has been incorporated into the lobby and the old WC has been converted into a utility room. There are large sliding doors that open directly onto the garden and the extension is topped by a green roof

Oak Cottage was originally built in the 19th century. Over the years there have been successive additions and alterations and whilst the front retained its original facade, the back of the cottage had become disjointed and lacked cohesion. This project aimed to unify the rear of the cottage, extend the sitting room and enhance the connection with the garden and form a new side entrace so that the original front room could become a dining room.
