Today marks Liverpool's 819th birthday.
On this day in 1207, King John signed the letters that established Liverpool as a free borough and privileged port, beginning a story of innovation, resilience and progress that continues today.
As a Liverpool based business, with local people, local families and local communities at the heart of what we do, we're incredibly proud to play our part in shaping the city's future.
Over the years, we've helped deliver and maintain infrastructure across Liverpool, from flagship routes including The Strand, Lime Street and Edge Lane, East Lancashire Road, to major projects such as Liverpool ONE Bus Station, Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium, Anfield and the Port of Liverpool. Through these schemes, we've helped create the connections that keep the city moving while supporting its continued growth and development.
Our commitment goes beyond building roads. Through our circular economy approach, we've recycled over 50,000 tonnes of Liverpool's road materials, ensuring that yesterday's roads become tomorrow's infrastructure. By reusing materials from across the city in new schemes, we're reducing waste, cutting carbon and helping build a more sustainable future for Liverpool.
We're equally proud to invest in Liverpool's people, supporting local employment, developing the next generation through our Highways Academy, apprenticeships and work experience opportunities, and creating lasting opportunities within the communities we serve.
