"What goes up must come down."

We were delighted to be invited back to Glasgow Fort to remove two 27-metre-high totem pole signs that Johnston Rigging originally installed over 20 years ago.
It's amazing how quickly time flies, and even better when you get the opportunity to return and safely bring down something your team helped put up all those years ago.

This was a fully managed operation carried out during night shifts to minimise disruption within a busy retail environment.

While we're well known for lifting and erecting, projects like this highlight another important part of what we do. Whether it's structural steelwork, signage, plant, machinery or anything held together with bolts, we have the expertise to safely dismantle, remove and transport it.

Tight Access? No Problem.

Here is a great example of our compact lifting fleet being put to work inside a congested factory environment.

Using our tracked carrier, the new process vessel was carefully manoeuvred into position before being lifted using our Hoeflon C10 and C6 compact cranes. Working together, the cranes carried out a controlled top and tail lift, rotating the vessel from horizontal to vertical before standing it safely into its final position.

A big advantage of compact cranes is their ability to work where larger equipment simply can't access. On this project, both cranes operated on plug-in electric power, allowing us to work quietly and without emissions inside the building.

These are the jobs we enjoy most. The ones that start with:
"How are we going to get that in there?"

From vessel installations and machinery moves to complex lifting operations in restricted spaces, our team thrives on finding safe, practical solutions.

🚛 Our Volvo made the trip down to London this week, delivering a 5,000kg centrifuge for overhaul. 🚛

The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed the truck is now sitting on a fresh set of Alcoa wheels, supplied by the team at Tyre Tracks. We think they really finish it off.

For those who don't know, this vehicle is equipped with a Palfinger PK53002 HIAB crane, a 10.5-tonne payload, and plant loading ramps, making it a versatile solution for moving machinery, plant, steelwork and equipment.

🖤 The fleet is show-ready. 🖤

This weekend we're at Truckfest Scotland at the Royal Highland Showground, and we're excited to have our recently added Volvo HIAB on display wearing its brand new 25th Anniversary “All Black” livery.

While the trucks and cranes often get the attention, it's the people behind the scenes who make it happen.

A massive thank you to the team who have spent the last few weeks washing, polishing, repairing, organising and generally taking pride in every detail.
The effort that goes into presenting the fleet to this standard is huge, and it says a lot about the people who work here.

Great to see one of our own continuing to progress 👏

A big well done to Ian Gillies on recently achieving his Mobile Crane certification.

Ian has been with us just over three years, coming from a quarry background with a solid understanding of heavy machinery. From day one, he took to lifting operations naturally and has become a key part of the team.
He now plays a big role in our specialist lifting operations, particularly with our spider cranes, as well as operating our HIAB. A very versatile operator and someone we can rely on.

This latest qualification is another step forward and gives us greater flexibility as we move into a busy period, helping cover crane operations through holidays and peak demand.

Well done Ian and thanks for your continued hard work and commitment. It doesn’t go unnoticed. 👏🏼
