Some pieces tell you straight away they were made to last.

I’m currently working on a pair of antique Georgian sofas, and every layer I uncover reminds me of the skill that went into them. The craftsmanship from the 1800s is exceptional, thoughtful joinery, strong frames, and details that were never meant to be rushed.

It’s a good reminder that quality furniture often deserves a second life, not a trip to the skip.

So many people assume an older piece isn’t worth saving because the fabric is tired or the seat feels worn. Usually, the bones tell a different story.

There’s something satisfying about seeing a well-made piece brought back into daily life, ready for another generation of use.

If you’ve got furniture you love but aren’t sure about, it may be worth looking at it properly before replacing it. What piece in your home would you keep if you could?
