From finished space back to bare bones - this is Great Owl, a Grade II Listed conversion in Kent.

We reworked the internal layout to bring more natural light in and strengthen the connection to the garden, including a new double-height steel-framed window and reorganised kitchen and dining areas.

A design and build kitchen extension in Kent, where architecture, construction and external works are considered as one continuous process.

Cedar rainscreen cladding is used across both the extension and retaining walls, creating a consistent material approach between building and landscape. Full-width bi-fold doors open the kitchen directly to the garden, strengthening the connection between inside and out.

The external works form part of the wider design intent, with retaining walls and patio areas shaped alongside the building, and integrated lighting introduced to bring definition and atmosphere into the space.

Great Owl - a Grade II Listed conversion within a historic agricultural building set within the Kent countryside.

One of the key interventions within this project was the introduction of a new double-height steel-framed window. Carefully integrated into the existing building, the window frames views of the garden beyond while bringing significantly more natural light into the heart of the home.

Working within a listed building requires a considered approach, balancing the character of the original structure with the needs of modern living.

One of the areas we specialise in at OSPIN is fitted furniture for oast house spaces.

Unlike standard rooms, roundels require furniture and staircases to be carefully designed around curved geometry and unconventional layouts - demanding a more bespoke and considered approach from the outset.

This staircase and fitted joinery were crafted in our Kent workshop before being installed on site, shaped specifically to follow the form and flow of the Oast itself.
