One of the areas we specialise in at OSPIN is fitted furniture for oast house spaces.

Unlike standard rooms, roundels require furniture and staircases to be carefully designed around curved geometry and unconventional layouts - demanding a more bespoke and considered approach from the outset.

This staircase and fitted joinery were crafted in our Kent workshop before being installed on site, shaped specifically to follow the form and flow of the Oast itself.

Spur Cottage replaces a 1960s home within the rural landscape of Horsmonden, repositioned within the site to better connect with the orchard and surrounding views beyond.

Large areas of glazing bring natural light deep into the living spaces, while carefully selected materials help root the building within its setting.

Architecture at OSPIN begins with understanding both the site and the way a home will be lived in.

Round House explores the opportunity to introduce a contemporary new dwelling within the grounds of an existing home near Cranbrook - something rarely achieved within this landscape setting.

The design responds directly to the surrounding countryside, with curved forms inspired by the rolling hills of the High Weald and a layout shaped around the natural character of the site itself.

Having worked together over the last eight years, building systems and a shared approach, we’ve decided to formalise that partnership and combine our companies into one unique studio: OSPIN.

Formed through the coming together of Phi Design + Build and Jack Vine - Creative Carpentry, Building & Design - Kent, OSPIN combines architectural thinking, construction expertise and craftsmanship within one connected team.

From concept through to completion, projects are designed, built and fitted in-house to create a more considered and collaborative process throughout.

Architectural Assistant / Technician (Min. 2 Yrs UK Experience – No Graduate/Student Applications)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Architectural Assistant to join a friendly and forward-thinking architectural design and build practice based in Lamberhurst, Kent. Specialising in sustainable design in the residential sector, this growing team is looking to bring on board a creative and motivated individual to support their expanding project pipeline.

Please note: We are only considering candidates with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a UK-based architectural Workplace. Applications that do not meet this requirement will not be considered.

Role Overview
We are seeking a talented and motivated Architectural Assistant / Technician to join our vibrant team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about architecture and design, with a strong portfolio that demonstrates creativity, technical skill, and a keen eye for detail. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects and gain valuable experience in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of designs from concept through to construction
Support project delivery
Work closely with senior team members and clients
Prepare detailed drawings, models, and presentations
Contribute to planning applications and technical packages

Skills & Experience Required:
RIBA Part 2 qualification or CIAT
Minimum 2-years experience working in a UK-based architectural practice work place.
Strong design and presentation skills
Knowledge of UK planning regulations and building standards
Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
Confident communicator and team player
A passion for sustainable design

Applicants must be able to commute to Lamberhurst, Kent,
Only candidates that live within a 20 mile radius of TN3 will be considered.
You must have the right to work in the UK – we are not currently offering visa sponsorship
Remote or hybrid work is not offered for this position
