🦖Evening everyone , I am recreating the scene from Jurassic park when the guy runs into the toilet for our Jurassic Lanark 6 !! 🦖The toilet has been kindly built by two local joiners and the toilet , cistern also donated by local business . 🦖Would anyone have some old bamboo screen that they are getting rid of ? We need it for the door and sides . 🦖Also looking for some long stemmed hay or similar for the roof ! If you have I’d greatly appreciate in hearing from you , thanks in advance 🙏 🦖

🍅 Brix scale for tomatoes 🍅

🌱The brix scale is a measurement of how acidic and sweet a tomato is ranging from 3.5% -12% .

🌱Most shop bought tomatoes come in at 3.5 % - 5% and popular home grown tomatoes including moneymaker , Alicante, Shirley and gardeners delight are between 6% and 7% !

Guess what ? 😂We still have a few varieties that are of a high percentage still available which register around 8-12% including

Black moon 8-9% .
Honeycomb 9-10%
Shimmer 9-12%
Black opal 9-10%
Scottish yellow 7-8.5%
Cherokee 8-9%
Picolatta 9-10%
Sungold 10-11% and ….then there is Brandywine which measures up to 12%

Have you got a space in your greenhouse / tunnel for one more tomato plant ? If so , here is a selection of some unusual and hard to obtain varieties.

🌱1. Brandywine , always voted in the top 5 best tasting tomato’s . It is an heirloom beef tomato and with its pink peachy skin looks great as well as tastes insanely tomatoey.

🌱2. Black opal , grown as a cordon and delivers large amounts of small sweet tasting black tomateos

🌱3. Lemoncito F1 yellow cherry tomatoes fruiting quickly and well into Autumn. Excellent tasting tomato

🌱4. Cherokee tomato , this heirloom tomato originally grown by Cherokee’s over 100 years ago . Not the most attractive tomato shape wise but the taste is exceptional .

🌱5. Shimmer , an excellent tasting tomato , torpedo shaped in a marble colour of green / brown and red .

🌱6. Big Mama F1 massive plum tomato , fleshy and excellent for making sauces !

🌱7. Scottish yellow , I had heard of the scottish yellow but never grown it or even seen it but I found a supplier 🤫😂 and I have a few ready for sale . As like Ailsa Craig they do well in a duller situ and of a cooler clime .

🌱We had a brilliant bbq night on Friday night celebrating the life of our volunteer and friend Tricia . To help celebrate we invited her daughter and partner and two of her grandchildren to plant the rose we bought in her memory , which as you can see they did a great job especially young niko !

🌱The theme was hippy … bohemian , which was very much in line with Tricia . We dressed for the Occassion in our hippy gear and music from that era and reminisced of our time with such a lovely lady .

🌱Tricia worked with us for almost 4 years and initially attended both Tuesday and Thursdays .

🌱She is greatly missed by all of us and I’m sure Friday night would have been given the big thumbs 👍🏼 up by her , along with the two fingered peace sign ✌️😎

🌱I’d just like to say thanks to all the volunteers who turned up on Friday and also to say a big thanks for all that you do at the park it’s greatly appreciated!
