It is with a heavy heart that I write this post.
Like many small businesses across the country, here at Flawless Furniture (GM) Ltd I have been facing increasingly difficult challenges. The impact of ongoing conflict, rising material costs, and significant fuel price increases has created enormous pressure on small independent businesses. Sadly, many businesses around us are also struggling, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to sustain operations in a way that is viable for the future.
This is particularly difficult to accept because our business survived the uncertainty of COVID, and I built it from nothing through hard work, determination, and a genuine passion for the trade. I am not someone who gives up easily, and I will continue fighting for what I have built, but I also believe in adapting and being proactive when times become challenging.
For those who may not know me, my name is Nicholas Englund, Managing Director of Flawless Furniture (GM) Ltd, based at New Hall Hey Industrial Park, Rawtenstall. I am a time-served furniture spraying and finishing specialist with over 25 years of hands-on industry experience, working across both domestic and commercial sectors.
Over the years, we have delivered high-quality spraying, finishing, restoration, repair and bespoke work for kitchens, bedrooms, staircases, libraries, public house refurbishments, restaurant chains, furniture manufacturers, reception areas, and large-scale commercial fit-outs. We have been fortunate to work with organisations including Foremost Furniture, Hargreaves, Springvale Leather, Carlicks, BGS Manufacturing and Lignify Ltd, I also support a number of Joiners and local traditional upholsterers.
Our fully equipped professional workshop includes a dedicated spray booth, and we also possess extensive expertise in:
• Furniture spraying and finishing
• Surface preparation, repairs and restoration
• MDF preparation and finishing
• Specialist decorative and patina finishes
• Lacquers, primers and technical product application
In addition to commercial and domestic contract work, I am also actively seeking opportunities to collaborate with organisations, colleges, training providers or manufacturers looking to develop practical skills within the furniture spraying and finishing sector.
I am open to commercial and domestic contracts, self-employed subcontract opportunities, collaborative partnerships, workshop support, or potentially the right employed opportunity if it aligns with my experience and values.
Skilled tradespeople who genuinely care about what they do every single day are becoming increasingly hard to find, and I remain deeply passionate about maintaining high standards within our industry.
If anyone may have an opportunity, recommendation, collaboration idea, or simply wishes to have a conversation, I would genuinely appreciate hearing from you.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our journey so far, I am not giving up without a fight.
