Absolutely loved completing this beautiful lounge area!

It makes it so enjoyable when a client chooses a bold statement of colour, On the walls is Eating Room Red by and ceilings and woodwork are Dimity, again a colour.

From the start of the two and a bit weeks it took to complete this project, there were issues, ranging from plaster that had blown from the walls, to windows that had to be eased and unfortunately fell out and panelling that had definitely seen better days!

But it was all in hand, rebuilt, replastered and reglazed, made to be enjoyed once again.

With it being a grade 2 stone building, breathability is paramount! But that also means it's a very cold space, to tackle that, thermal liner and fibreline smooth were used to help insulate the room and help prevent any cold spots causing mould or condensation. All of these products also allow the walls to breathe and keep in a healthy condition!

It was certainly one of 2024's favourite jobs.

Old houses are the best to work on!

So far with this beautiful room I've had an old window that hasn't been open for a long time, falls out when it was eased, dry flex resin to the rescue to make the opener nice solid once again and puttied a new piece of laminated glass into it, rebuilt the panelling around the radiator as it had failed and caused the radiator to sag and patched in the walls with .

The wall are to be thermal lined next week and on with Abit of eating room red

I do love my job when it's jobs like this, being put to the test.

This is why I have invested a lot into dustless sanding!

This is 5 days of on and off sanding.
Now imagine breathing all that in!
Imagine trying to get a nice finish with that floating around in the air!
Also it has a huge benefit for the client as they don't have to clean it all up for months after!

It seems to be the theme! Preparation yet again!

The first stage of any job is making it workable, this means removing, blinds, curtains, TVs and putting furniture into the middle before covering the lot with protective plastic sheeting (not moving that piano though) 😅

Second stage, a stage which is massively overlooked even by some painters and decorators themselves, the sanding!
Using a variety of dustless sanders I am able to sand 100% of any project.
It's not done for the fun of it, because trust me it's not fun!
It's to smooth the surface to achieve a high standard of finish in the end,
It's to help paints adhere to the previous painted surfaces,
It's to help identify holes, cracks and other defects.
It's to just do it right and give the client the best bang for their buck!

This is one and a half days of work just to remove the very heavy old paint textures, to get back to the start before any filler, caulk or even paint comes out!

Three floors of cracks and screws holes!

This one definitely tested my patience, every fixing on the skirting and frames have previously been filled with an unstable filler which had failed resulting in me having to scrape and clean out every hole, ensuring the fixing is secure and filling with super finish.
Most walls had cracks which I had to scrape out , scrim and apply two coats of skim and fill.
Finished with a shed load of sanding
supermatt to the ceilings
durable matt on the walls
gloss on the woodwork

A couple of jobs to finish 2023 off.
Both of them included an incredible amount of preparation work went into both of these jobs, the first transforming a dull and dark staircase into a fresh bright hallway, the second to do like for like but in all communal areas off an apartment building which hadn't been touched for a long time.

Again another example of doing the correct preparation work to give the required finish.
Racked out the cracked plaster work, ensure boards were solid and sound before scrimming and filling.
Thanks to for the tub of A-2 joint compound. I also look forward to trying new products, lovely to apply, quick drying on recommended depth, lovely to sand and paint over no issues!
