Our Story
Billy Arthur Walden is a qualified Carpenter and restorer. Billy has now been accepted into the Institute of Carpenters (LIOC) at the grade of Licentiate in recognition of his achievements at college and with him gaining first place in the Regional Skillbuild Competition. The Institute also recognised the high regard for Billy expressed by his college lecturers and his referees. Billy is now a Licentiate of the Institute of Carpenters.
At 17 years old he became the youngest project manager of Channel 4’s Amazing Spaces when he solely rebuilt a worn out 1965 narrowboat. He had two builds on the programme the other being his Mk1 Volkswagen Lt campervan which he built from a horse wagon at the age of 15!
Since appearing on the programme his talent has not only been recognised Nationally but Internationally, even making World News in India. His television opportunity has given him the spring board to follow his other passion of speaking out about bullying and he has spoken at a number of venues including after dinner speeches. He has a superb mechanical and engineering mind, often making machines from old parts and scrap metal and when finding a fault with a vehicle not giving in until he finds a solution. He is building his own Nissan Micra rally car his goal is to match the Works car; he likes a big big challenge! He has already been placed rallying, quite an achievement as he does everything himself. Billy has massive passion for the restoration of classic Volkswagen LT trucks and will not see one scrapped, At 15yrs old he was the youngest person to complete a full campervan conversion completely by himself with no assistance, it was furnished to the highest standard and the quality of workmanship was outstanding and unique for his age.
