They thought it would be a good idea to put an insect hotel in a corner of their tidy garden...
Then it struck them that their whole garden could be an insect hotel, so they made a tidy corner for themselves to sit in, to watch and enjoy.

A brand new ladybird is freshly emerged from its metamorphosis and resting on a Love-in-a-mist seedhead. I love these wonderful common names we have for our flora and fauna.
Finally ladybirds are appearing after a bad start this spring due to adverse weather conditions. They have been sorely missed as the aphids have had an absolute field day this year.

It's hard to resist tidying the borders - especially when you are a gardener and it's sort of your job, but this is the 'Hungry Gap' for birds and this morning I was rewarded for my restraint. This hungry little fellow was enjoying a breakfast of Rudbeckia seeds while I was having my coffee.

We have managed to walk a little further on the wild side this year in the heart of Langham with our churchyard wilding project. The Camassias and Narcissus we planted in the No Mow area came up, though the Yellow Rattle mostly didn't. We invested in a scythe and could be seen looking like apprentice Grim Reapers among the gravestones back in August. One highlight for me is the lovely bench, with its carvings, one of two commissioned for the area this year.

Just watching my alliums as they begin to unwrap themselves. These Globemasters are reliable, they survived all that wet and are about to be a real focal point in my little garden throughout May and June.
