Learning Beyond the Desk: The Value of Site Visits.

At Neville Special Projects, we believe it is essential for all team members who wish to visit our sites to be given the opportunity to do so. This not only helps everyone to stay fully informed about each of our active jobs, but also provides a unique learning opportunity, particularly for high-profile projects like our refurbishment contract at London Luton Airport Hangars 9, 60, and 127.

Recently, some of our team members from the Marketing, Admin, and HR teams were taken on a tour of these impressive hangars at London Luton Airport, where they witnessed the start of the site set up and initial demolition.

Our Admin Assistant, Hollie, said: “It’s always nice to get out of the office and see these sites when we can, and I had lots of fun going out to see London Luton Airport. It was interesting getting to talk to those based on the site and to see the first initial stages of this job, as I imagine it is going to get very busy, as it is a large and impressive site.”

We recently had the pleasure of hosting two enthusiastic individuals who are interested in starting their careers as estimators. They participated in a shadowing morning, which provided them with a firsthand look at our operations here at Neville Special Projects, as well as the daily activities of an estimator.

When asked about their experience, they described the morning as "really worthwhile" and noted that they "learned a lot." Their favourite part of the morning was exploring "all the interesting projects" we are involved in.

We believe it is essential to support the next generation. As a company, we have been offering apprenticeships since 1881, and our current apprentices join a modern and forward-thinking group of companies that are committed to training and development.

From resurfacing to run-outs, Neville Special Projects’ community cricket initiative:

As part of our work for Thorpe Wood Police Station resurfacing works, we sourced eight mobile cricket covers, which allowed us to effectively shield exposed areas during the stripping and relaying of the waterproof surfaces.

Once this project was completed, we donated these cricket covers to three local cricket clubs, where we then gathered our Neville Special Projects’ cricketers and teamed up with Cambridgeshire Constabulary to play against one of these recipient teams from Hemingford Grey.

It was a lovely evening, playing cricket in the sunshine, followed by a delicious barbecue.
