You had dreams of Chelsea but your garden's giving cornflakes 😅
Every year around this time, the comparison spiral starts. Everyone else's garden looks incredible and yours looks like it needs a strongly worded conversation. I know. I have been there.
So instead of spiralling, I went outside and found the things I am actually proud of right now. Garlic that came up. Snapdragons I did not plant that just decided to show up anyway. Foxgloves from seed, which I have been attempting for years. A dwarf cherry tree with actual cherries on her for the first time. A strawberry eaten standing in the rain that tasted like a win. Roses doing the absolute most. And Canterbury bells I grew entirely because I once saw someone drinking out of them like tiny fairy cups, and honestly that is enough of a reason.
The gift is to grow something. That is it. Not to grow the most impressive thing, or the most photogenic thing, or the thing that gets the most saves. Just to grow something and show up for it. Take pride in what you've achieved. Even if you feel like it isn't the most!
And if your garden really is a write-off right now? Buy a plug plant. Stick it in a pot. Start there. Stop discounting yourself 🌱
