(I don't believe I'm a friend of Alan Titchmarsh? If I am misremembering, I do apologise! 🤷🏾‍♀️ Great man. Great stuff for the industry.)

This is 31.

Peach rose for gratitude, red for love and a deep commitment to myself, and St John's Wort as a reminder that healing is always available, and the sun always comes back.

A moment to look back, a whole lot of excitement for what's next.

Here's to it 😘

ad Okay I was cheeky, I got you with the word "optimisation" 😅 listen, we are not into optimising everything around here. But I do swear by this.

Wool Compost for Tomatoes (fully organic!) is one of the few things in my garden that I tried once and immediately never looked back. The tomato plants are mulched with it, and the claim that you do not need to feed your tomatoes at all once they are planted in it? I found that very difficult to believe. And then I had tomato plants producing all the way through to October.

So. Whatever is in there is working 🍅

Quarter to nine PM and I am out here planting chillies in the last of the light. Welcome to my corner of the internet 😅

My chilli plants struggled from seed this year so I picked up some plug plants from the garden centre, which by the way is always a valid option and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. But because I felt a little up against it with the season, I wanted to give them the best possible start.

Enter Root Well from , an organic root stimulant containing mycorrhizal fungi, which helps form that vital relationship between the soil and your plant so nutrients can actually get to where they need to go. I have used root stimulants before when taking cuttings and propagating, but not one that goes directly into the ground like this. A little sprinkle around the base of each plant before planting in. I was perhaps a touch heavy handed but we move 😂

Fingers crossed for happy chillies. I will keep you posted 🌶️

Most flowers become invisible within a day or two. You arrange them, you admire them, and then you walk straight past them on the way to the back door.
Peonies are not most flowers.

These are the Alexa from and I cannot stop looking at them. Sarah Bernhardt pinks, arriving as buds and opening into this over 48 hours. Peony season is short. Catch it while you can.

You had dreams of Chelsea but your garden's giving cornflakes 😅

Every year around this time, the comparison spiral starts. Everyone else's garden looks incredible and yours looks like it needs a strongly worded conversation. I know. I have been there.

So instead of spiralling, I went outside and found the things I am actually proud of right now. Garlic that came up. Snapdragons I did not plant that just decided to show up anyway. Foxgloves from seed, which I have been attempting for years. A dwarf cherry tree with actual cherries on her for the first time. A strawberry eaten standing in the rain that tasted like a win. Roses doing the absolute most. And Canterbury bells I grew entirely because I once saw someone drinking out of them like tiny fairy cups, and honestly that is enough of a reason.

The gift is to grow something. That is it. Not to grow the most impressive thing, or the most photogenic thing, or the thing that gets the most saves. Just to grow something and show up for it. Take pride in what you've achieved. Even if you feel like it isn't the most!

And if your garden really is a write-off right now? Buy a plug plant. Stick it in a pot. Start there. Stop discounting yourself 🌱

Do it for the plot I guess? The water butt is empty, I'm out of control 🥵

Brief pause in the Chelsea content, whilst I frolic and pray my plants are not burnt to a crisp. I'm not afraid (😬😅😵‍💫) are you afraid?!
