When we say this catch pit is full, we mean completely crammed to the top!
We were out on site for Wakefield Council recently to tackle a severely blocked catch pit that had completely given up.
If you look at the before pictures, it wasn't just a case of some loose debris sitting on top of the grates. The entire pit chamber underneath was totally full to the brim with thick silt, heavy mud, and compacted waste. The full depth of the pit was completely blocked solid, meaning there was absolutely zero capacity left for water to drain away.
For anyone who doesn't know, a catch pit is a deep chamber built into a drainage line. Its main job is to act as a settlement trap, letting heavy grit, stones, and rubbish from surface run off drop to the bottom so it doesn't wash into the main pipes and cause a massive blockage deep underground. But when the full pit fills up like this one did, the whole system grinds to a halt.
In the after pictures you can see our tanker crew doing what they do best. We used the vacuum tanker to suck out the entire pit right down to the concrete floor, high pressure jetted the incoming lines, and washed the whole area clean so it is ready to do its job again.
At Drains First, we don't just clear blocked road grates. Our tanker fleet is fully equipped for all sorts of commercial and domestic liquid waste disposal,
including:
* Septic tank emptying and routine maintenance
* Grease tank and grease trap emptying for commercial kitchens
* Silt pit and road gully clearance
* Large scale liquid waste disposal
