Two busy but rewarding days in .

As I make my way back to Airport after two busy days, I’m reflecting on another productive trip.

I had the pleasure of meeting new clients, carrying out detailed surveys of two properties in , and attending several other project meetings. Although I’m still a little tired after returning from my holiday/ work trip, I’m grateful for the opportunity to do work that I genuinely enjoy.

Every property has its own story, and every survey brings a new challenge. This trip certainly had one memorable moment! While surveying one of the old buildings, I accidentally got myself trapped in a room. The only way out was through a window, across a flat roof, and back into the property through another window! It definitely gave me a laugh and reminded me that surveying older buildings is never boring.

A sincere thank you to all my clients for their continued trust, and especially to my Irish clients, who always make me feel at home whenever I visit. Your kindness, hospitality and confidence in my work are truly appreciated.

Now it’s time to head back to the office, turn the survey information into designs, and move these exciting projects forward.

Reflecting on 2025, Looking Ahead to 2026

As 2025 comes to a close, I’ve been taking a moment to reflect on a year that has been demanding, varied, and deeply rewarding.

It’s been a year of balancing professional practice with public service and education — progressing live architectural projects across Ireland, serving on CIAT Professional Interview Boards online and face to face in London, and stepping into my role as a lecturer at Leeds College of Building. Bridging professional practice and education continues to be one of the most meaningful parts of my work.

Internationally, 2025 also brought opportunities to contribute beyond the UK and Ireland — delivering seminars, engaging with universities and ministries, and continuing important conversations around architectural technology, regulation, and resilience.
On a personal level, the year included many proud moments as a swimming official and referee at national and international competitions, including BUCS and the Arab Swimming Championships — and, most importantly, watching my son achieve new personal bests through commitment and hard work.

The year closed on a particularly positive note, with a planning permission granted well ahead of schedule for a replacement dwelling project in Ireland — one of the fastest planning decisions I’ve received in my career, and a great way to end the year.
In between professional commitments, travelling to Liverpool and Lisbon to watch football has been a welcome way to switch off, recharge, and return with fresh perspective.

Grateful for the people, colleagues, clients, institutions, students, and family who made this year what it was. Wishing everyone a peaceful Christmas and a healthy, positive New Year, and looking ahead to 2026 with clarity and momentum.

A great way to close out the year 🎄

Delighted to share that planning permission has been granted by Leitrim County Council for a residential project — and notably well ahead of the expected decision timeframe.

The permission allows for the demolition of an existing two-storey semi-detached dwelling and rear porch, and the construction of a replacement four-bedroom semi-detached home on the same footprint, including a two-storey rear extension, rear dormer window, and a sustainable surface-water soakaway. The approved scheme builds on a previously granted permission while upgrading the building to current standards and preserving its traditional character.
