I worked on this seasonal tidy up for this garden in Farsley back in autumn and now, heading into March, it’s ready to thrive.

The tidy involved:

- Border weeding and reshaping
- Pruning shrubs and roses
- Pressure washing steps and patio
- Lawn cut and full garden tidy

Now, March is your window to get ahead before everything bursts into growth.

5 plants to add colour to your garden right now.

Early season colour doesn’t need to be complicated.

In this recent planting, I used:

• Primrose – reliable early brightness
• Ajuga – hardy groundcover with rich foliage
• Bellis – simple, cheerful daisies
• Muscari – crisp blue spring bulbs
• Polyanthus – classic border colour

All cope well with cooler temperatures and heavier Leeds soils.

A few thoughtful additions now will completely lift a tired winter border.
