Our video of the lads stripping back a previously overcladded job pretty much went viral. 200,000 views and plenty of debate in the comments - including people in the trade saying that if the timbers looked okay they would overclad.
Here’s why we disagree 👇
After 30 years in this trade we’ve stripped back more overcladded rooflines than we can count. And what looks fine on the outside is almost never fine on the inside. Timber rots from the inside out. When you overclad you’re not just hiding the problem - you’re accelerating it. Plastic over timber means the timber can’t breathe. The rot spreads faster. And by the time anyone notices it’s a far bigger and far more expensive problem than it ever needed to be.
We’ve seen the damage. We’ve seen the water ingress inside properties. We’ve seen what happens when you take a shortcut that seemed fine at the time.
That’s why we never overclad.
