PJW Woodworking

PJW Woodworking I am a Carpenter with a great passion for all things wood. Having been taught by my late Grandfather, I've been making things since the age of 5 years old.

Hi there and welcome to my page. My name is Peter and I am a Carpenter. I have been making all sorts of things from all types of Timber, ever since the age of 5 Years Old. My late Grandfather (who was Swedish) taught me by hand. In those days, there were no power tools, other than an Electric Drill! I used to rush home from school and head straight for my Grandfather's Workshop, where he

would be busy constructing a woodworking project. From then on, I just got hooked on the wonderful world of Woodworking. Over the years, I have turned my hobby into a successful business. I have a fully equipped workshop full of the very best hand tools and power tools, always ready to do the job! If I can be of any assistance to you, please feel free to get in touch. I am more than happy to discuss any of your ideas or requirements on any future woodworking projects, no matter how big or small.

A Timber Decking Step complete with a handrail, leading from a single door, down to ground level.

An 800mm treated Timber Wall Plate was fixed to the wall using 120mm Concrete Coach Bolts and the bottom of the steps had Treated Timber Posts fixed to the inside of the Stringers on both sides, which were cemented in to the ground.

My Garden 2 Seater Bench that converts in to a Picnic Table and visa versa.

This is ideal for small gardens and tight spaces too!

It was difficult to film whilst I was closing it up from being a Picnic Table to form the 2 Seater Bench.

A Garden Pergola Project, that I've built from scratch using 4 x 2 Treated Timber and 4 x 4 Treated Timber Posts.

I marked out all of the cuts and angles and cut it all on my monster Bosch Sliding Compound/Mitre Saw.

The 4 x 4 Timber Posts were bolted to the existing Decking using Galvanised Steel Plates and Galvenised Coach Screws.

I made Timber Skirts for each post to cover up the Galvanised Steel Plates, thus making it all pleasing on the eye.

Both the new Timber Pergola and the existing Decking had coats of 'Woodworks' Natural Decking Stain applied to it all too!

An original 595mm x 720mm Kitchen Wall Cupboard with a Solid Oak Door, that the customer wanted re-sized.

The Solid Oak Door, the carcass and the back board were all cut, thus reducing the overall new size to 330mm x 720mm.

I used a Trim Router on the cut edge of the door so that I could match the original edging profile.

I finished off by de-greasing the outside of the cupboard, applied a couple of coats of Medium Oak Wood Stain and re-fitted the original door handle.

A Child's Drawing and Chalk Board Easel.

It has been finished with a White Flat Matt Furniture Paint, Matt Black Paint (Chalk Board) and the two shelves for storing Crayons, Pencils and Chalk have been finished in a Satin Oak Wood Varnish.

I spent Friday Afternoon making this Child's Drawing and Chalk Board Easel using some waste wood that's been lying around in my workshop.

On one side you can hang a roll of Lining Paper on a top dowed secured rail and on the other side of the Easel, it will be painted with Black Matt Paint to use as a Blackboard.

Both sides have a bottom shelf for keeping either Crayons, Pencils and Chalk.

I've used 2 x Strap Hinges to put both sides together with 2 equal lengths of rope that keep it all from collapsing.

I've made this from my memory and not a woodworking plan.

So yesterday I made this special box to take an Ashes Scatter Tube.

My mum's beloved Cat passed away a couple of weeks ago.

I made the box using Spruce Timber (White Wood).

I used various grades of Sandpaper at different stages to get it looking and feeling nice and smooth with rounded soft edges

I finished it with four applications of a Medium Oak Woodworking Wax (containing both Carnauba and Beeswax), using a lint free cloth which has really enhanced the wood grain.

I rebated and fitted two decorative Brass Hinges on to the lid, together with a Brass Cabinet Roller Catch which keeps it tightly closed and I put a piece of Green Felt on to the bottom of the base too.

The approx size of the box is 144mm wide x 155 mm depth x 200 mm high.

I've ordered a small Plaque which I'll be fitting on to the lid once it arrives next week and then I'll take her back home to mum.
