Today we are obliged to be romantic
And think of yet another valentine.
We know the rules and we are both pedantic:
Today's the day we have to be romantic.
Our love is old and sure, not new and frantic.
You know I'm yours and I know you are mine.
And saying that has made me feel romantic,
My dearest love, my darling valentine

As the Queen begins celebrations for her Platinum Jubilee, we thought we would throwback to her Diamond Jubilee in 2012 and Jubilee Gardens on the South Bank. A great project

Remember, remember the Fifth of November...🔥🎆
The traditional death for traitors in 17th-century England was to be hanged from the gallows, then drawn and quartered in public. But despite his role in the Gunpowder Plot - which the perpetrators hoped would kill King James and as many members of parliament as possible - it was not to be Fawkes' fate.
As he awaited his grisly punishment on the gallows, Fawkes leapt to his death - to avoid the horrors of having his testicles cut off, his stomach opened and his guts spilled out before his eyes. He died from a broken neck.
His body was subsequently quartered, and his remains were sent to "the four corners of the kingdom" as a warning to others.

The UK is currently hosting COP26, the 26th UN Climate Change Conference. The main goal of this is to cut greenhouse gas emissions and slow Earth's warming. To do this, world leaders have agreed a target to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees. 🌍

According to David Attenborough, ‘we are already in trouble’ this is because “our burning of fossil fuels, our destruction of nature, our approach to industrial construction are releasing carbon into the atmosphere at an unprecedented pace and scale.”

The V & A Museum are opening an exhibition in February next year to celebrate the life and work of Beatrix Potter, exploring her life as a scientist and conservationist!

In her early twenties Potter had a keen interest in mycology, (the study of fungi), and began to produce drawings of fungi, collecting it, and observing it under the microscope. This was during a time when women had virtually no access to higher education, and were denied access to research libraries.

Potter was very ahead of time with her ideas and for this they were called unimportant, and her drawings were dismissed without anyone even looking at them. Her findings were greatly underappreciated and were believed by no one else for decades, people found them laughable.

Potter informed these people that it would all be in books in ten years and walked away giggling, to this day her fungi illustrations are studied for their scientific accuracy and consulted by mycologists all over the world.🍄 Victoria And Albert

The first planter installed and planted at our Egham Gateway project- Spoiler alert this is the last planter/part of the poem by John Denham from 1615 to 1658. His poem Cooper's Hill is the first example in English of a poem devoted to local description, picturing the Thames Vally Scenery around his home in Egham.
