We've been designing a house extension at the water's edge of a town in Shetland. The extension has a private pool at ground level with open plan living area on floor above, both rooms having wide views over the harbour. The original house will also be redesigned internally. This is a conceptual image of the new entrance 🙂

We were delighted to be contacted by Malcolm Jack for The Times and invited to contribute to his recent feature on church conversions across the UK, with the North Roe Chapel conversion heading up the article.

It was a privilege to collaborate with kirk owner & architect Craig Millar, as a personal project aside from being a Partner of Heatherwick Studio's China office.

The transformation was brought to life by respected local contractors Mckay & Sinclair Ltd and Kevin Sutherland Construction, helping give this historic Shetland kirk an exciting new chapter.

We're always pleased to see Shetland projects receiving national recognition 😀

Form : : A recent completion… New extensions are contemporary flat roofed simple forms in black, to visually reduce extension to be subsidiary in form and height to the original traditional house.
