💪 ONE OF THE TOUGHEST JOBS IN 26 YEARS! 💪

In all my 26 years in the landscaping and construction industry, this is probably one of the hardest grafts I’ve ever been involved in—but the team powered through and delivered! 👏

🏗️ Construction of a New Retaining Wall – 6.6m Long x 2m High

The work involved:

✅ Hand-excavating approximately 1 metre behind the existing retaining wall
✅ Carefully dismantling and removing the old wall
✅ Excavating and preparing a new 1-metre-wide x 300mm-deep concrete foundation
✅ Constructing a concrete block retaining wall in stepped thicknesses—starting at 900mm, reducing to 450mm and finishing at 225mm
✅ Installing weep holes and a protective membrane for effective drainage
✅ Backfilling with washed drainage pebbles to manage water and reduce pressure behind the wall
✅ Carrying every single piece of excavated material and waste up 20 steps to the skips—completely by hand!

With extremely difficult access, all blocks, concrete and materials also had to be carried down the steps to the job. There were no shortcuts and no machinery doing the heavy lifting—just serious hard graft from the team from start to finish! 💪

A huge amount of planning, strength and experience went into this project. This wasn’t simply about building a wall—it was about creating a strong, safe and long-lasting structure designed to withstand serious pressure.
