Every 6 months you should operate the test button(s) on the RCDs and/or RCBOs in your home and work consumer units.
This proves that the mechanical elements are still working correctly, and have not seized up. If working correctly the breaker will switch off when tested, and you can switch it on again right after.
To help remember to do this, why not put it in your diary, right alongside ‘clocks change’ and do the two together, every 6 months.
Make this Sunday the day to show your RCD some love….who knows, it may save your life one day! 😉
