🚨As the colder weather is clearly upon us, it’s important to check over your heating system before it’s too late!🚨
As energy bills are expected to rise again by 9% over the winter months, here are 5️⃣ tips in which you can prepare your home for the colder weather and cut down on those bills. 🤩
1️⃣ Set your thermostat to a higher temperature and check if the heating system turns on. Make sure it accurately reflects the room temperature. If it’s not working correctly, it might need recalibration or replacement.
2️⃣ Walk around your home and ensure that all the radiators are hot to touch, vent if necessary (no cold spots at either top or bottom of the radiator).
3️⃣ If your radiators have thermostatic valves, go round and close / open them to make sure they’re working for full efficiency (don’t waste heat on unused rooms).
4️⃣ Clear away any dust, debris, or objects that may be covering your radiators. This can block heat distribution, meaning more heat is needed to warm up the room.
5️⃣ Consider booking a pre-winter appointment with an engineer to inspect your heating system. This will include:
- Draining down the system and installing central heating inhibitor.
- Cleaning out filters.
- Checking for potential issues before it’s too late.
- Setting heating times and temperature to run at optimum efficiency.
