Effective use of space was the brief in this garden, so replacing the old warn out deck and gravel areas to allow all year round use was a must. The new high quality decked area, with sleeper stepping stones, sleeper framed borders and slate chippings has created a contemporary and low maintenance bespoke garden for this customer.

After finishing my last job yesterday afternoon (a returning customer with a lovely garden), I spent some time helping a family friend. These crocosmia leaves were left over winter to provide an excellent protective space for a multitude of critters , but now I’ve removed them to enable the sunlight to hit the new growth and encourage strong leaves and eventually flowers. When needed, I’ll top up the bark on the flower borders as it maintains moisture and inhibits weeds making the garden easier to maintain!

Bought a gorgeous Camellia for a present for a friend. Always think a plant is a great present because it keeps on brightening up a garden year after year. This one has been in a poly tunnel over winter so I’m going to advise she keeps it in the greenhouse until we’re sure the frosts have stopped (frost could damage the buds). I think you’ll agree it’s the perfect present for anyone with a garden! This plant would be happy in a pot on a patio with the right soil (Camellias like ericaceous compost but may be ok depending on what the soil is like where you live). For future winter protection when it’s established, consider wrapping in fleece, especially if in an exposed spot.

Nice to see the daffodils out, feels like spring is really round the corner!
For effective dead-heading, just hold the stem firmly but gently and pull off the dead flowers from just behind the bulbous head. Now comes the time to wait- do NOT cut them back yet- the stems feed the bulbs for a few weeks after the flowers have died off. They will go withered and yellow, and almost pull away from the bulb when they’re ready to cut back/pull off. Happy gardening!

A mixture of soft and hard landscaping has brought this garden back to life. I’ve taken out rotten fences and overgrown shrubs and installed perfectly level fences and routered, curved, raised edgers. This was followed with strategic planting of 70+ flowers and shrubs to bring nature back to this beautiful garden.
