Very windy Friday today!!!

Is your fence wobbling?

Have you ever looked at a manhole cover and wondered what the symbols on there mean? They hold information about the maximum safe loading capacity.

A15 - 1.5t loading for pedestrian areas or where there is light occasional traffic.
B125 - 12.5t loading for light vehicle use, generally driveways.
C250 - 25t loading for more frequent use and occasional HGV traffic.
D400 - 40t loading widely used on the highway network.

Today we were called out to replace a cover which had collapsed following a vehicle mounting the pavement. Upon inspection the existing cover was labelled A15.
We removed the broken cover and replaced it with a D400 to give the client full reassurance that a similar incident can be avoided in the future.
