Consumer unit upgrade completed this week at a property in Buersil.
Old box was too close to the gas meter and highly inaccessible,new unit relocated to the cupboard above ,now with full RCBO and SPD protection and far more user friendly and accessible .

Last fusebox-consumer unit upgrade of the year completed today at a property in Rochdale .
Old fusebox was awkward and dangerous to access for the residents as it was in a wet damp cellar so I suggested any new consumer unit must be relocated to the entrance porch above .
Never an easy job but always worth it as going forward the house is much safer with full RCD protection and consumer unit now easily accessible.
The previous fusebox was also fitted by a local electrician John Summers of Rochdale ,some 40 years ago .(I’m sure he has long since retired ,just as this fusebox now is also 👌)

Consumer unit job done today on Clough Road ,Littleborough.
I always feel an attachment to this certain area of Littleborough as it’s where my ancestors lived for many years ,my great grandparents raised their children there ,my Nan grew up there ,my mum was born there and as a child I’d go for walks here too memories place ❤️

Job completed today at a property up Wardle.
Old 1960’s fusebox was located in the garage directly underneath the main water pipe.
Some joinery work was required as I needed to build out to ensure that the new consumer unit was away from the water pipe.
Now the property is far safer and far more user friendly ,with individual RCBO protection ,surge protection and all circuits now identified and labelled.

Out with the old …in with the new.
55yr old fusebox replaced with new consumer unit and general electrical tidy up at a property up Wardle this week .

Strange one this week ,I had a call from a customer in Wardle saying they were getting shocks from the water taps.
I attended and did some fault finding ,only to find out that yes indeed the taps were live along with all the sockets ,switches ,gas pipes,boiler casing and everything else in the property that was connected to earth 😮!
The fault was coming from the main supply cable that was bringing 230v back on the earth connection 😮!
I disconnected the earth supply and we informed ENW who came out ASAP .
The upshot is the customers drive had to be dug up and a brand new supply cable installed ,not ideal but a necessity for safety reasons ,the first time I have ever know this fault to happen in 34 years .
This could have easily been a fatal fault that has now been rectified and thankfully now totally safe again 🙏.
