Every week we get asked the same questions by designers and creatives who are running business and working for themselves, whether that’s owning a studio, managing a project or freelancing.

We are so excited to be hosting our next Designer Studio at the end of this month. Our 2-day, in person, immersive training experience.

This is for designers and creatives with their own small businesses to get together and build a supportive community while learning exactly how to build your business and attract higher value clients that love what you do and are willing to pay for it.

We show you exactly how to bring the right clients in so you’re not wasting time speaking to low quality people, you’re building a business that allows you to do what you love - design!

Across the two days we will be looking at your ideal clients, who they are and where to reach them. Assessing your skill set and your business and personal goals so that we can craft a valuable offer that has clients banging on your door. And we will be working through how to attract the right clients and get them into your business simply, consistently and reliably.

This year, Marc and I are taking to the stage at Design Central’s 10 year Anniversary show in September!

We are so excited to be partnering with the amazingggg Cath McCubbin, the incredible mind behind this fantastic show - the biggest design trade show in The North! We are going to be working with Cath to bring an exciting new programme to the Design Central talk space across the two days that adds value to the visiting designers and exhibitors.

Marc be hosting and running the talk space while I host interviews and deliver some important business focused sessions, specifically to help you grow and scale your design business!

We will also be introducing Design Central Extras which we are very excited about - a chance for you to get even more value from this incredible event!

When you ask valuable clients to work with you, you are asking them to make a decision and take a step that you won’t take yourself.

You are leading by example and showing them that working with you is a risk. So you will always be stuck with low value, low paying projects.

When you have an opportunity presented to you, what do you think about?

Most designers struggle to find new clients and grow their businesses.
This is usually because they’re looking in the wrong place or sending out the wrong message.

When this is right, the right people will find you!

The easiest way to get new opportunities is by running ads. But this terrifies a lot of designers because they’re looking don’t know what to do. By focusing on these 3 fundamentals, your messaging becomes clear and your service becomes the obvious solution and a clear next step for any client.

What Marc and I do is very different. He is a coach, and organisational psychologist and a communication specialist. I am an architect and interior designer, a creative and a business owner.

Where we meet is where we have the most impact on our designers. Helping them to build careers, take on new clients and grow their businesses.

This is a combination of skills, experience and knowledge to create something truly unique and beneficial. Something the industry is crying out for.

What sets us apart as designers is good design with quality pieces. Otherwise, you’re just one of many.

Going to design shows, meeting vendors, suppliers and manufacturers; learning about what quality products and solutions are out there is so important.

Having that knowledge and those connections is what makes you different from Susan down the road who bought some nice cushions and now thinks she’s an interior designer.

If you’re a designer I encourage you to take the time to go to these design shows. They’re incredible places to build connections and learn about what’s going on in your industry!

Quality clients want quality products. This is where you find them. Go to the shows, speak to suppliers, get beautiful samples and wow your clients!

Real design doesn’t happen behind a desk!

We planned for a small, intimate group where we could share, learn and grow together. And that is exactly what we got.

They say if you love what you do then you never work a day in your life. This is what they are talking about.

An amazing couple of days, with an increíble bunch of talented people.

Creatives are not meant to work in isolation. We need a community of like-minded people to lift and push us - and that’s what we have here!

In 2024 Marc and I launched our coaching & mentoring programme - the first and only of its kind in the UK, specifically for designers.

As a Chartered Architect and Registered Interior Designer myself, I know just how difficult it can be to build the career that you want. Sometimes that means going against the grain.

We are designers, we are taught how to design, but not how to navigate the industry or how to run a successful business.

In 2025 we won an award for our revenue as a small studio and for our professional development programme!

With so many happy customers, the results speak for themselves and it’s because of this we have been selected for this amazing award.
We are so proud of what we have achieved and so grateful for everyone that we are working with and have met along the way!
