Planning Permission and Building Warrants do different jobs — but they’re often mixed up.
Planning looks at whether a proposal is acceptable in a particular place.
Building Standards look at how it’s built, and whether it’s safe and compliant.
Some projects need both.
Some need only one.
Having one does not replace the other.
This is where people often run into problems — especially when work starts without checking what approvals are actually required.
If you’re planning an extension, conversion or other building work and want clarity before you commit, a quick check now can avoid issues later.
