Back in 2016, NorDan took ownership of a state-of-the-art powder coating line with FOX (Flash OXidising) pre-treatment, only the 5th of its kind in the world. This process uses rapid anodic oxidization to create billions of microscopic pores on the aluminium surface. Once the powder coating is applied, these pores are filled, forming a robust bond that results in a tough, durable finish.

The result? GSB Sea Proof Plus Class 5 certification, which means it's rated class 5 in the corrosivity category, making it perfect for marine environments. Plus, you can enjoy a low-maintenance colour solution that won't fade over time.

From subtle earth tones to bold, eye-catching reds and blues, and an almost endless variety of custom colours to choose from. NorDan’s window surface stands out as much for its beauty as it does for its legendary durability.

What makes the durability of our windows so superior is the fact that our aluminium is treated with a FOX Fast Oxidization Process, which is a rapid anodic oxidization treatment that deposits a layer of oxide on the surface of the aluminium. The process creates billions of microscopic pores that when the powder coating process is completed, the pores are filled with powder and grips onto the aluminium, creating a much tougher finish for the material.

Timber, quite literally, is at the core of what we do. While there are many ways to protect timber windows, the single most important factor for longevity is the robust impregnation of the timber that is used to make the windows. Our timber is put through a thorough process which is part of the reason NorDan alu-clad products have a life expectancy of up to 60+ years.

The timber window components are placed in a chamber which is then filled with an impregnating liquid. The chamber is then pressurised to force the preservative liquid deep into the timber. After this process, the chamber is drained of fluid and placed under a high vacuum to remove any excess fluid.

In July, our teams from across the UK came together to celebrate 100 years of NorDan! 🎉

To mark this special occasion, colleagues, friends and families joined us for unforgettable celebrations in both Scotland and England. From Highland Games and ceilidh dancing to lawn games and plenty of laughter, it was a fantastic way to celebrate a century of NorDan together.

It was truly inspiring to see so many people from across our business come together to celebrate our proud history, create new memories and recognise the people who have helped shape NorDan into what it is today.

For 100 years, our success has been built on exceptional people, strong partnerships and a shared commitment to doing things the right way. These celebrations gave us the chance to reflect on everything we've achieved together while looking ahead with excitement to the future.
