Introducing the Skilled Plant Operative Card

The Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS), owned by NOCN Group, has launched the Skilled Plant Operative Card under the CPCS Assured Card Scheme.

Designed for operatives working outside the traditional construction and built environment, this card provides a recognised route for individuals in off-site settings — including manufacturing, transport logistics, distribution, and engineering — to demonstrate competence against construction industry standards.

The Skilled Plant Operative Card recognises an operative’s skills, knowledge, experience, and behaviours, giving employers confidence that plant machinery is being operated safely and professionally, wherever the work takes place.

⚠️ Currently, the Skilled Plant Operative Card is only available through CPCS Accredited Centres.

Thoroughly enjoyed working with some great trainees this week on a CPCS A40a Slinger/ Signaller (all duties) course.
Straight into A62 Crane/ Lift Supervisors and A61 Appointed Person (lift planner) courses next week… can’t wait! 🏗️

Had a busy month training some excellent operators at the for their CPCS Skilled Plant Operative cards. Having met some amazing people (and penguins 🐧), I always look forward to being invited back.

The Assured Card Scheme was launched in late 2024 and is intended for non-construction type activities like manufacturing, logistics, distribution, agriculture, quarrying and engineering. This Skilled Plant Operative card is also popular with those wishing to adopt CPCS standards internationally.
