Exploring Monotype | 8 evenings | October- December 2026

Over this 8-week course you will explore different ways of making monotype prints, including using stencils. Found materials, plants, thin card, paper, string, thread- all of these things and more can be used to make images. You will be amazed at the detail that you can print from plants and other materials.

Exploring Monotype | 8 evenings | October- December 2026

Explore different ways of making monotypes, through drawing, using stencils, applying and removing ink, from painterly techniques to combininations of all of these things!

Monoprinting is a fantastic way to experiment and develop ideas.

Artist Michelle Avison originally trained as a painter at the Slade School of Art, before studying printmaking, and has used monotype throughout her career in many different ways.

The 4 prints here were made from drawings done on a car journey. They involve rolling colour onto the plate, wiping away, and painting to add marks. They are small in scale, reflecting the original drawings which were made on A6 postcards.
