Would you like to cut your business tax bill and take more control of your energy costs?
That's exactly what a number of our commercial clients have done this summer by investing in solar PV and battery storage.
Buying electricity from the grid comes with costs many businesses don't fully account for. From 1st April 2026, the main Climate Change Levy rate for electricity and natural gas is 0.801p per kWh. There's also a significant VAT gap, homes pay 5% on electricity, while most businesses pay 20%. For a business using 100,000 kWh of taxable grid electricity a year, the CCL rate alone adds up to £801, before any reliefs are applied.
Generating more of your own electricity through solar PV reduces how much you need to buy in from the grid, and battery storage gives you control over when you actually use what you've generated. Depending on your circumstances, investing in qualifying solar PV equipment may also bring tax benefits for your business.
This summer we've helped a number of businesses invest in their own energy generation, reduce their reliance on the grid, and get a firmer handle on their ongoing energy costs.
Tarven Solar Energy brings more than 25 years of electrical experience, MCS accreditation, and a PAYE-only installation team, no subcontractors.
