Sometimes it’s good to stop for a minute and look back at where it all started.

When I started Taylor Made Electrical Projects, I had a 2010 Renault Kangoo and was doing small electrical jobs after finishing my full-time job. Every evening, every weekend, every bit of spare time was spent trying to build something that one day could provide a better future for my family.

Our first real opportunity came with the electrical installation of 18 flats in Grays. I’ll never forget that job. It challenged me, taught me more than I could have imagined, and gave me the confidence to believe we could build a proper business. It also helped me buy my first home for my family—something I’ll always be grateful for.

Not long after, Jamie came on board as a Director and 50% shareholder. Looking back, that’s without doubt one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. We shared the same vision, the same work ethic, and the same determination to build something we could both be proud of.

Fast forward a few years and we’ve been lucky enough to work on some incredible projects. From The Shard, the Oval Cricket Ground and the Tower of London, to major commercial offices like AlixPartners, where we’ve tested over 600 circuits across seven floors, worked on more than 30 distribution boards, replaced over 500 emergency lights and more than 100 lighting control modules to help keep the building safe and compliant.

Most recently, we’ve been trusted with the complete electrical installation for two luxury homes in Wimbledon with a combined value of around £10 million. Winning that project was a massive achievement for us, but what makes me even prouder is what it allowed us to do.

In January we employed our first full-time electrician, Joe. Since then, Jay has joined us full-time, and Michelle has become a huge part of the business, keeping everything organised behind the scenes. Watching the team grow has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

And now… seeing three sign-written vans out on the road still doesn’t feel real sometimes.

This business has never been built overnight. It’s been built through early mornings, late nights, taking risks, learning from mistakes, and giving absolutely everything we’ve got.

To every client who’s trusted us, every supplier who’s supported us, every member of our team, and our families who’ve backed us through it all, thank you. Every job, big or small, has played a part in getting us to where we are today.

We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, but we’re even more excited about where we’re going.

The best is still to come. ⚡️💙

Progress update from one of our Wimbledon projects 🔧⚡

We’re now moving into the 2nd fix stage on these two bespoke luxury homes valued at approximately £6m each.

Massive amount of work has gone into the first fix coordination, containment, lighting layouts and infrastructure across both properties and it’s great to now see the finish line getting closer.

Looking forward to seeing these come to life over the next few months.

Lighting & power brought together on this one ⚡️🔥

• Twin pendant drops either side of the feature wall for that warm ambient glow 💡
• Matte black sockets & switches to keep it clean and consistent
• Ceiling spots for functional light when needed
• Projector fully sunk into the ceiling for a seamless cinema feel 🎬

All cables hidden, all lines straight, everything level 👌

Subtle electrics that make a big impact.

This week we were up in the iconic The Shard, London Bridge carrying out a lighting upgrade on the 22nd floor.

Removed 3 old lighting tracks and installed 3 x 3m DALI linear JCC fittings, suspended directly from the structural steel beams.

Fully integrated into the existing DALI system — seamless commissioning with no disruption to the wider lighting controls.

Our engineers are trained in Dalmatic DALI systems and specialise in integrating new installations into complex commercial environments.

High level project. High level finish.

🔌🏠 Latest Project Complete – South Ockendon 🏠🔌

Take a look at our latest project at the former South Ockendon Police Station, where two old police houses have been transformed into 2 x 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom HMOs, finished to a high-end luxury standard throughout.

This install includes key life-safety systems, such as (but not limited to):
✔️ Mains-wired, interlinked smoke alarms
✔️ Emergency lighting throughout communal corridors
✔️ Mechanical ventilation systems
✔️ Spotlights throughout
✔️ Internet points in every room
✔️ Sky TV

Huge shoutout to Steve and Jamie for the tidy containment in the plant rooms – quality workmanship 👌
Top work all round to everyone involved on this one.

⚠️ HMOs present unique challenges when installing electrical systems, particularly around fire protection and fault detection.

✔️ AFDDs are required under BS 7671:2018+A2 – Regulation 421.1.7, which applies to circuits supplying socket outlets and fixed equipment in higher-risk residential buildings, including HMOs, to reduce the risk of fire caused by arc faults.

✔️ Fire detection and alarm systems in HMOs must comply with BS 5839-6, typically requiring a Grade A or Grade D1 LD2/LD3 system depending on the HMO size and local authority requirements.

Designing and installing to these standards is critical for safety and compliance 🔥✅

Another job ticked off ✔️

At the Encore office in Old Street, London, we replaced a burnt-out LED rope light — no part numbers, no O&M manuals, and not easy to source, but we got it sorted 💡

We also installed 2x RJ45 data points in metal conduit to maintain the industrial look of the space, and repaired a faulty door entry system to get everything back up and running 🔧

Problem solving, attention to detail, and keeping the design intent intact — exactly how it should be.

Here’s one of the projects that’s been keeping us SUPER busy – AlixPartners in central London.

Commercial electrical works carried out properly, safely, and to a high standard.
