12 years in the making. The highest honour. A win for the whole team. 🏆

We’re incredibly proud to share that the Parliament of Victoria façade lighting design has won the IES Award of Excellence, the highest honour presented at the Illuminating Engineering Society awards.

First commissioned in 2014, this project has been a 12-year journey to bring new light to one of Melbourne’s most iconic heritage buildings. The result celebrates the character, detail and natural beauty of the façade, creating something truly special after dark.

A huge shout-out to Chris Page, our Melbourne Studio Leader, whose commitment to this project over the years has been exceptional.

As Chris put it, this award is for everyone involved. From the early stages of the design through to the finished result, it reflects the dedication, expertise and care that so many people have put into making this project a success.

Congratulations, team. This one is worth celebrating. 👏

We’re proud to share that Ana Spina, Studio Director at FPOV Sydney, is running for the IALD Membership Committee in the 2027 elections.

With 25 years of experience in lighting design across Brazil, Australia and international markets, Ana has been an active member of the lighting community throughout her career. She previously served as an IALD Director at Large from 2020 - 2024 and has also volunteered with the Brazilian Association of Lighting Designers (AsBAI).

Having experienced first-hand how the IALD community can connect people and open doors, Ana is passionate about helping bring new lighting designers into the association and supporting the next generation of designers.

If you’re an member, voting is now open until 13th November 2026.

: Senior Lighting Designer - Singapore

Good lighting starts with good people.

We’re looking for a Senior Lighting Designer to join our Singapore studio for a 6-month maternity cover, with the potential to extend.

You’ll take the lead on projects from the first ideas through to completion - developing concepts, shaping design direction, working with clients and project teams, producing the technical detail, and seeing the work through construction and commissioning.

We’re looking for someone with 5+ years’ experience in an independent lighting consultancy, a strong background in luxury hospitality, and the confidence to take ownership of multiple projects.

You’ll work alongside our Singapore team, Directors, Associates and studios across the FPOV network, with the opportunity to get involved in projects across the APAC region and beyond.

Golden hour, underground.

Sakura House was designed to feel like the last hour of a Kyoto backstreet izakaya - warm, intimate and tucked away.

Paper lanterns pool soft amber over the bar, while the room falls away into deep, moody shadow. Sake shelves and wh**ky bottles catch just enough light to glint, with no fill and no flatness.

Just candlelight-warm pools doing the work, creating the kind of atmosphere that feels hidden, intimate and made for a basement bar.

THE LANDS BY CAPELLA, SYDNEY

The Lands by Capella demanded a balanced lighting approach: restoring new life to an important piece of Sydney’s history using contemporary technology, while complimenting the stunning architectural composition & detailing.

Our lighting was deliberately quiet. Bespoke fittings in dark bronze and frosted glass sit alongside the original plasterwork, timber joinery and beautiful arched windows, while existing light locations were reused wherever possible to minimise impact on the heritage fabric.

Discrete integration of lighting and services into architectural elements allows the building’s timeless beauty to reveal itself.
We're incredibly proud to have been part of this significant project, and even more so to see it recognised with four 2026 NSW awards, including the Greenway Award for Heritage at the AIA NSW Architecture Awards.

How do you make a space no larger than a bed feel open, comfortable and inviting?⁣

For Otherwander’s first hotel in Soho, our lighting design focused on creating a sense of space beyond the pod itself. A diffused "window" effect, combined with custom lighting scenes inspired by the changing tones of the sky, allows guests to personalise their environment throughout the day.⁣
⁣
From crisp daylight blues and warm sunset ambers to simple white light for reading, RGBW pixel LED technology provides the perfect atmosphere for every moment.⁣
⁣
Beyond the pods, the guest experience continues through beautifully designed communal spaces. Warm indirect lighting and an immersive audio soundscape create a calming, spa-like environment within the shared bathrooms, while dynamic RGBW lighting transforms the staircase and huddle lounge into vibrant social spaces.⁣
⁣
At certain moments throughout the day, the ground-floor lounge shifts into something unexpected, with the ambient lighting fading to let the RGBW installation take centre stage.⁣

OTHERWANDER POD HOTEL

How do you make a space no larger than a bed feel open, comfortable and inviting?

For Otherwander’s first hotel in Soho, our lighting design focused on creating a sense of space beyond the pod itself. A diffused "window" effect, combined with custom lighting scenes inspired by the changing tones of the sky, allows guests to personalise their environment throughout the day.
