πŸŽƒ DAP 31 UPDATE 🀯

I had to double-check the tape... these numbers are getting crazy.

πŸ“ OTT: 267"
βš–οΈ Estimated Weight: 447 lb

That's a gain of around 44 lb in 24 hours. Peak growth is well and truly here. Every day now is about consistency...watering, feeding, checking plant health, training vines and making sure Gladys has everything she needs to keep pushing.
To put it into perspective...

The last time I grew an Atlantic giant πŸ“… 2021 πŸŽƒ DAP 33: 269 lb

πŸ“… 2026 (projected) πŸŽƒ DAP 33: Around 500 lb

This season is on another level, but there's still a long way to go. The next few weeks will tell the real story. Fingers crossed she keeps piling on the pounds! πŸ’›πŸŽƒ

πŸ‘‡ Drop your prediction... How heavy do you think Gladys will be by DAP 40?

πŸŽƒ DAP 30 | Gladys is officially flying! πŸš€403 lb at DAP 30. 🀯

Today's numbers are hard to believe...

πŸ“ End-to-End: 74"
πŸ“ Side-to-Side: 77"
πŸ“ Circumference: 107"
πŸ“ OTT: 258"

βš–οΈ Estimated Weight: 403 lb (183 kg) on the 2025 GPC chart.

If you'd told me 30 days ago we'd be sitting at over 400 lb already, I'd have snapped your hand off.

One challenge today was the main vine starting to kink as pressure built up behind the pumpkin. To relieve the stress, I carefully shifted the pumpkin on my own, cut a tap root and gently lifted part of the main vine to straighten everything out. It's one of those jobs that has to be done before the vine becomes damaged as the fruit piles on the pounds.

The goal hasn't changed. We keep our heads down, keep Gladys healthy, and see just how far she can go.

Gladys is now sitting at an estimated 362 lb with an OTT of 249 inches. Up 34lb in the last 24 hours

We're now moving into one of the most exciting stages of the season. Over the next few weeks, Atlantic Giants can hit their biggest daily gains, so every decision matters. The focus is simple: keep the plant healthy, keep the water consistent, keep the feed consistent and let the plant do what it does best.

The new shade structure is already earning its keep, helping protect the pumpkin during the hottest part of the day while the huge patch continues turning sunlight, water and nutrients into pure pumpkin.

Every season teaches you something. But the real challenge isn't just growing a giant pumpkin... it's the time and commitment behind it.

Training the vines. Watering. Feeding. Daily plant health checks. Monitoring fruit health. Testing the soil. Checking moisture levels. Burying vines. Removing tertiary vines. Managing new fruit. Watching the weather. Adjusting the plan when conditions change.

The list never ends.

People often say, "You've had good weather this year." Good weather definitely helps, but it doesn't replace the hundreds of hours spent understanding the plant and giving it exactly what it needs, day after day.

Growing a giant pumpkin isn't a case of throwing a seed in the ground and hoping for the best.

If only it were that simple. πŸŽƒπŸ’ͺ

πŸŽƒ DAP 28 Update – Gladys is flying! πŸ’›πŸš€
What a difference 5 days makes!

πŸ“… DAP 23
πŸ“ OTT: 192.5"
πŸ“ Measurements: 59.5" Γ— 57" Γ— 76"
βš–οΈ Estimated Weight: 168 lb

πŸ“… DAP 28
πŸ“ OTT: 241"
πŸ“ Measurements: 70" Γ— 72" Γ— 99"
βš–οΈ Estimated Weight: 328 lb

That's an incredible gain of:
➑️ +48.5" OTT
➑️ +160 lb estimated weight
➑️ Averaging around 32 lb per day over the last 5 days! 🀯

The new shade structure is finally up, and it's even tall enough for me at 6ft 2in to stand inside comfortably.

Keeping Gladys cool through the hottest part of the day should help her stay on track during this rapid growth phase. 🌞➑️🌀️

She's looking healthy, the shape is staying nice and symmetrical, and every day she seems to surprise me a little more. Still a long way to go, but she's giving me plenty of reasons to dream big.

Let's see what the next week brings... πŸ’›πŸŽƒ
