Reducing risk and preserving beauty 🌳
This week we carried out structural remediation on a Tulip Tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) with an included uniondeveloping at a main fork. To support the tree’s long-term stability, we reduced weight and sail area through careful crown reduction and installed a non-invasive cable brace to help manage dynamic loading.
This approach allows us to retain the tree safely while supporting its natural form and continued growth.
Sensible tree care. Sustainable outcomes. 🌿

Meet the Lombardy Poplar 🍁 Tall, elegant, and absolute show-stoppers in autumn. Fast-growing, great for privacy screens, and full of seasonal colour. Nature really knows how to show off. 🌳✨

New van day! Out on the road for its first day today.

Thanks for another cracking build! Our oldest tip master build is almost 12 years old now and it’s still going 💪. Best builds in the game!

☀️🌳 Chainsaws powered by the sun — we think that’s pretty cool.
At Hickson Wardle Treecare, we’re trialling solar panels and power packs with some of our crews, charging battery-operated, zero-emission tools directly from the sun.
It’s not a full switch yet — sometimes petrol is still needed for certain jobs — but this step lets us explore greener, quieter, lower-impact ways of working.
Caring for trees means caring for the environment around them too, and we’re excited to be moving in the right direction. 🌍💚

More great planting from around this (Pride of India) is looking great by the station. Yellow flowers lighting up the area and giving exotic feels. These trees should tolerate the warmer dryer summers we are getting, tolerate pruning and grow into a suitable size to be on our streets. Great choice!

The last few picks of the crane job, the big lumps of timber. Using the crane removed operator stress from saw use and manual handling, the pieces were taken over the building and straight into a truck for haulage. This job would have been a 3 day removal but with the team and crane on hand we had it down in a day, away from site at 3pm 👌🔥🌳

On the day to day running of a tree surgery company it’s the team that make it work, the whole crew at HWT are the reason our jobs run well from start to finish, from survey and planning, filling out risk assessments, communicating prior to the job starting and ensuring everyone knows their role from the ground crew, climbers and additional contractors on site.
Here’s a few shots of some of the crew involved in last weeks crane removal. 👊🔥🌳

Last week HWT were contracted to carry out a removal of a fantastic beech tree in a small back garden in hackney. The tree was heavily decayed with ganoderma and the tree owner was issued a 5 day notice to remove the tree. As there were several tonnes of timber and a drop zone the size of a postage stamp, we decided to team up with to lift the tree out over the property. was in the tree and really was a pleasure to work with, calm, methodical and highly professional 👌. There will be a few posts from this one but here’s some shots of the first crane pic of the day🌳🏗️🔥
