Light along the edge
Soft light washes down from the glazed roof, marking the way from old to new.
Towards the street, the formal reception room keeps its Victorian composure. Beyond it, the house steps down into something more striking. The site set the change of level, and with it came a change of mood: lowered and turned to the garden, the kitchen is private, raw and honest.
Height was hard-won here, so the structure was never hidden. The slab became the floor and the joists the ceiling, so the room wears the story of its making. Oak tempers that rawness with warmth and leaves a kitchen that feels grounded, a settled backdrop to everyday life.
