We are thrilled to be part of the Bonsai Treehouse Exhibition x Museum of Architecture MoA
The process of creating our treehouse “Unruffled” is grounded in accessibility, resourcefulness and collective making. Constructed from reimagined everyday materials, the project explores how familiar objects can be transformed into extraordinary spaces through collaboration and care.
Unruffled is a process that reconsiders how we gather. In an increasingly fragmented world, this project offers a gentle reminder that shelter should be social, play can be purposeful and togetherness is weaved into the fabric of our environments. Reimagining the traditional treehouse not as a solitary retreat, but as a shared destination, the project explores the relationship between tree and shelter as one of mutual care.
“This theme immediately recalled a moment at the Design Museum’s, Home Futures exhibition (2019) where my friends shared an interactive exhibit, a felt nest.
Building on this moment, we propose a light-touch intervention. Suspended orb structure, supported by post and guy lines, ensuring minimal impact on the tree. Inspired by the protective quality of a nest, the structure would open to become a communal space while offering enclosure and security when closed. Access would be deliberately playful: a rope ladder to climb, a pole to descend.
Aesthetically it references, jewel-like forms contrasted with a soft, enveloping interior.”
