Transform Your Home with Minimal Upheaval: The Power of Lime Paints
One of the most effective and low-disruption ways to transform your home is by using lime-based paints like Auro Airfresh – Auro 328. These paints offer significant benefits for both your living environment and health.

Breathability: Lime paints allow walls to "breathe," preventing moisture buildup, mold, and mildew. This is especially important for older buildings or any space prone to dampness.

Air Quality: Auro Airfresh – Auro 328 improves indoor air quality by absorbing pollutants like formaldehyde, which can be emitted by furniture and other materials. This makes it an excellent choice for those with allergies or respiratory issues.

Versatile Application: One of the best features of Auro Airfresh – Auro 328 is its ability to be applied directly onto gypsum plaster. However, if your walls are covered with vinyl paint, it must be removed first, as vinyl paint blocks breathability. Once removed, simply clean the surface and apply the lime paint for a beautiful, breathable finish.

Durability and Aesthetic Appeal: Lime paints provide a matte finish that ages gracefully, adding character to your home. They are also durable and can be easily refreshed with a new coat, making them a long-term, sustainable choice.

With minimal preparation, lime paints like Auro Airfresh – Auro 328 offer a powerful way to refresh your home, enhancing both its aesthetic and health benefits.

5 Critical Insights on Gypsum in Homes

1. Gypsum is mainly a byproduct from coal power plants. Its use in construction reduces sulfur dioxide but has drawbacks, like poor drying once wet, leading to humidity and mold issues.

2. Its crystalline nature prevents cracking but holds moisture. This can escalate indoor humidity, especially in homes with poor ventilation, nurturing mold growth.

3. Used since ancient Egypt, gypsum's modern application in homes, particularly in the UK, has resulted in indoor air quality concerns due to inadequate ventilation for its moisture retention.

4. While beneficial in agriculture for its pH neutrality, in homes, this can encourage mold on damp gypsum surfaces lacking in natural acidity or alkalinity to deter growth.

5. Gypsum plaster's moisture affinity can make UK homes prone to high humidity, promoting mold that poses health risks. Reports show such conditions leading to severe ailments and fatalities, highlighting the need for improved construction materials and practices.

Despite gypsum's longstanding use, its implications in residential settings, especially in high humidity environments like the UK, posture serious health and air quality issues, stemming from its moisture-related properties and subsequent mold growth.

This is an image of an in progress ceiling, it was the original Lathe and Plaster, certain sections where sagging and needed to be repaired, we sanded much of it to create a key and reduce the overall weight, but much of the ceiling was stable.

With modern products like Fibreglass mesh, we are able to strengthen the entire ceiling. and provide a a renewed lime finish. No stains come through as the old finishing coat is completely sanded off.

this ensures a sustainable cost effective way for people to have their ceiling restored, maintaining vapour permeability and not being forced to use gypsum.
