Roof Terrace Design St John's Wood

I met with the client back in early January and following our initial consultation the roof terrace design in St John's Wood developed after myself and the client spoke about her childhood growing up in South Africa and how she saw bush fires and beautiful sunsets that created silhouettes of architectural trees in the savanna.

Marylebone Roof Terrace

Designed by Todd Longstaff-Gowan Landscape Architects, the garden comprised of curved brick walls of varying heights and matching brick patio floor. Due to access issues through the house all materials were crane lifted up onto the roof in stages to meet the requirements set out by the structural engineer so as not to point load areas of the terrace.

Roof Terrace with Artificial Lawn

This inviting rooftop space was designed for family and business entertainment, to enhance good views (and obscure the less enjoyable ones) and the al fresco experience, and provide a putting area for recreation. We undertook this sensitive build with minimal disruption to the businesses within the commercial courtyard that provides access to the residential properties.

This once unremarkable flat tiled roof was beautifully transformed into a contemporary roof terrace design highlighted by a stunning water feature and a curved bench. To create an illusion of space, the decking was angled 45 degrees.

Roof Garden Kensington

This 2009 APL Category award-winning roof terrace, designed by Andy Sturgeon and constructed by The Garden Builders, featured a sophisticated mix of timber and planting to create a warm, inviting rooftop space. Lush, mixed planting edged the garden, which was decked in timber. Timber constituted the main design element of this beautiful rooftop space.
