We’ve published our 2025 Sustainability Report setting out examples of the progress we are making to as we work to deliver sustainable value for our partners, people and planet. 🌍 🌞

Here’s a snapshot of key our achievements in 2025:
⚡ 7GW of assets under operation or construction in 2025, generating 6.3TWh of renewable energy and supported the avoidance of an estimated 3.8 million tonnes of CO2e
🏭 32% reduction in our scope 3 carbon intensity compared with 2021
🤝 100% module and battery storage suppliers subject to ESG and traceability audits or assessment

The report brings to life how we are translating our sustainability commitments into real life actions, including ecovoltaics research that supports thriving ecosystems and piloting onsite battery storage that has the potential to significantly reduce scope 2 emissions from solar sites.

☀️ Solar PV in a Heatwave: What the Headlines Miss ☀️

🌍Europe is experiencing record breaking temperatures during this latest heatwave. So, what does this mean for solar PV? You may have seen headlines suggesting solar is “struggling”, so it’s important to bring some balance and context. The good news is that the reality is far more straightforward - and far more positive - than the headlines suggest.✅

Solar PV output is driven primarily by irradiance (the amount of sunlight hitting the panels). During heatwaves, we typically see very high sunlight levels and minimal cloud, which significantly boosts generation. 🌤️

While high temperatures can reduce PV efficiency slightly, around 0.3–0.5% per °C above 25°C, with modern panels averaging around 0.35% - this effect is far outweighed by strong sunlight.🔆

The UK is seeing some tight margins this week in the energy system. This was due to a combination of factors:

🔻Exceptionally low wind generation across the UK and Europe
📈A surge in demand as homes and businesses increased cooling
🔻Reduced imports, including a 48% drop from France due to nuclear cooling constraints
📈Gas needing to ramp significantly to meet evening peaks

Solar PV, meanwhile, continued to deliver meaningful, predictable renewable power - exactly when the grid needed it. In fact, yesterday, renewables outperformed all other generation sources – and within that category, solar PV was the leading contributor.🌞

Solar PV remains one of the UK’s most reliable, scalable and resilient sources of generation, even on the hottest days. High irradiance ensures strong output, helping keep the system balanced when other sources are constrained.💪⚡☀️
