Drain inspection carried out in Barnet

Rats have been entering a clients property under the kitchen units for a number of years.

Step 1 -

We removed the kickboards and inspected the gully. We found evidence of rats chewing the drain cover, we then inspected the drains using our new Scanprobe Techniques Limited X40 drain camera to check for any further ingress points.

Step 2 - We installed a one way valve from 1env Solutions Ltd to the drain leading to the gully and fitted heavy duty mesh to the gully drain cover as further protection.

Step 3 - Left customer a detailed report with images of what works have been carried out to stop further rat ingress in to the property.

Two issues from a job yesterday — both completely avoidable, both guaranteed to cost more later:

1. Rats & Flexi Pipes
If rats have chewed through a flexi pipe behind your toilet, replacing it with another flexi pipe isn’t a fix — it’s a repeat booking.
Until the rat issue is properly dealt with, they’ll just come back and chew straight through it again.
Deal with the cause first, then fit something they can’t destroy in five minutes.

2. Inspection Chambers & Extensions
Building an extension over an inspection chamber and covering it up completely? Bad idea.
When (not if) there’s a blockage or issue, you’ve now got no access — which means disruption, extra cost, and a lot more mess than necessary.
Move it or install proper access. There’s no shortcut here.
