Poland changed its rules so that soldiers, police and border guards are not punished when they break the normal fi****ms rules in defined situations. Self defence. A group forcing the border when milder means fail. Someone grabbing an officer's gun.

Dominik Tarczyński, the Polish MEP who said the line about being shot dead, calls that protection for his people. Rights groups in Europe call it a licence to shoot at a border where they say people are already pushed back illegally.
