⚡ Project Completion – Ballyogan Towers Replacement ⚡

Murphy has successfully completed our Ballyogan Towers Replacement Project for ESB Networks at Ballyogan Landfill, Carrickmines, Dublin.

This challenging project involved replacing two 35m high 220kV towers, where existing foundations had suffered cracking and reinforcement distortion due to unstable landfill ground conditions.

Murphy mobilised two of our in-house piling rigs, enabling both towers to be piled within a tight 2-week outage window on a critical transmission line. Piling design and installation were also delivered by our Ground Engineering team, including eight 900mm diameter bored concrete piles.

Works were completed in full compliance with EPA, local council, ESB, and landfill operator requirements with the assistance of Fehily Timoney and Company.

A great showcase of our team's strength in the delivery of complex infrastructure—completed safely, efficiently, and in a highly regulated environment. Well done to all involved!

We were delighted to attend Golborne Carnival as part of our ongoing work with Wigan Council, supporting a community we’ve been privileged to have been part of for several decades.

Along with giving children the chance to wear full PPE and experience our plant equipment up close, our team invited community members to play games, paint arts and crafts, and chat about the work we’ve been doing locally. 👷 It was also a great opportunity to speak about career opportunities and the many pathways available within construction and engineering.

⏱️ 6 months of planning. 3 days of preparation. 15 hours of ex*****on. ⏱️

A fantastic achievement by our NSWC and Pipe Fabrication teams at the Loughshinny IC1 natural gas interconnector—an important link between Ireland and Scotland.

This project involved replacing a critical valve that allows essential inspection and cleaning tools to pass safely through the pipeline without disrupting gas supply.

Working within a strict shutdown window, the team successfully completed the entire job—including removing the old valve and installing the new one—in just 15 hours. This was only possible thanks to months of careful planning and detailed preparation on site.

The work wasn’t without its challenges. Ground movement had put extra strain on the pipework, so the team put in place temporary supports and a specially designed restraint system to ensure everything remained safe and secure throughout the works.
The job also included precision cutting and complex welding on heavy-wall pipe—all completed within the same shift using specialist techniques to maintain quality and safety.

👏 A huge well done to everyone involved in delivering this critical infrastructure safely and efficiently for Gas Networks Ireland

We were delighted to be able to support the Greater Manchester Combined Authority yesterday in their efforts to promote T-Levels in the region.
T Levels are a recognised alternative to A Levels, apprenticeships and other 16 to 19 courses. Equivalent in size to three A Levels, a T Level focuses on vocational skills and can help you into skilled employment, higher study or apprenticeships.

Focused on a split between classroom and work-based learning, you’ll spend 80% of your course in your learning environment and the other 20% on an in-depth work placement where you’ll be putting your skills into action.

Colleagues from our Willesden project recently visited the Pepper Pot Centre to support its elderly residents by removing waste and old furniture. They also made sure to save time for some post-cleanup dominos with the residents!

The project team will be returning to Pepper Pot later in the year to install new shelving units and provide new chairs, blinds and tables to revamp their game room.

Michael, the Operations Manager at Pepper Pot Centre said: “The Murphy team were professional, proactive, and incredibly helpful throughout the visit. Their positive attitude and willingness to get stuck in made a real difference on the day. We’re genuinely quite excited about what we can achieve together moving forward.”

We are proud to support organisations in our local communities that make a difference. If you’d like to learn more about how you can play a part in our mission to improve life, please visit our website: https://careers.murphygroup.com/

⚡ We're building the workforce to power Ireland’s future ⚡

At Murphy, as our work with continues to grow, one thing became clear — we needed more skilled line technicians. So, we took action.
🎓 We’ve established our own training school to:
• Train people with no experience into trainee line technicians
• Upskill experienced workers from overseas to ESB & Irish safety standards

Over the last few months, we’ve welcomed new team members from Kenya, Romania, Portugal and the Philippines 🌍 — bringing valuable international experience to our crews.

And this week marks another milestone — our first assessment day for people with no experience who are ready to start their journey as trainee line technicians.

⚡ This is more than recruitment — it’s a long-term investment in people, skills and infrastructure.

If you're looking for a hands-on career with real progression, we’d love to hear from you.
