💦 Lead & Barrel Pipe Replacement & Full Water Supply Upgrade, Romford. 💦
We were called out to a property in Romford after the homeowner reported extremely poor water pressure - it had got so low they couldn't run a shower.
Essex & Suffolk Water confirmed they had low water pressure, pointed to a failing private water supply pipe. After surveying the site and identifying underground services, we excavated three access pits and used trenchless moling to install a new 25mm MDPE pipe, keeping disruption to a minimum and fully replacing the old barrel pipework. The removed pipe was heavily corroded and partially blocked — a common issue in older installations.
Like this house, many homes built before the 1960s in the UK still rely on buried barrel pipe. These rot, rust internally and can restrict flow or affect water quality.
If your water supply pipe hasn't been upgraded this is your sign to change!
Once this new supply was competed, all disturbed areas were reinstated with concrete to match the existing surfaces, leaving the site clean and safe. A compliance certificate was issued to the customer and submitted to Essex & Suffolk Water upon completion.
Feel free to call a member of team to discuss replacing your water pipes. Burst or not, you may want to switch out to replace lead to stop water contamination and avoid future leaks from old pipework.
💧 You may even qualify for the Lead Replacement Scheme if you are a Thames Water customer. This is a significant saving. 💧
