Women in Construction Event - Hosted at the Embassy of Ireland ☘️

On Wednesday, our Director of Finance and IT, Michelle McLaughlin and Head of Finance, Emma Brockhurst, were very honoured to be hosted at the Irish Embassy for an informative and entertaining panel discussion.

The session was moderated by Orla Bance (CCR3 Group Limited) with panellists Kate McGee (Mace), Zoe Moss (Castgroup Srl) and Mairead Liston (Cavendish Professionals), each sharing their experiences.

A big thank you to our hosts Dermot O'Grady and Mark Lower from Ardent Tide Ltd.

As part of our dynamic Social Value programme, Katie Ryan and Katie Keary recently attended the Eiffage Kier Ferrovial BAM (EKFB) STEM Soapbox Challenge at Hereward College in Coventry.

Delivered across three interactive sessions, the challenge gave SEND students the opportunity to develop and showcase a range of valuable skills, from communication and teamwork to creativity, confidence and problem-solving.

Working in teams, students created team identities and logos, built model cars while exploring engineering principles and even designed team dances before constructing their soapbox cars and taking part in the final race.

Throughout the challenge, the students demonstrated impressive creativity, resilience, collaboration and determination.

It was fantastic to see the breadth of talent on display and the many strengths SEND students bring to education, employment and their communities.

A big thank you to everyone involved in delivering such an engaging and inspiring event!

⚽ 6 ways to keep yourself right this summer. ⚽ In association with LADSMINDS Charity.

It may be raining outside, but it's not curbing our enthusiasm for the summer of football kicking off tonight.

Just like with elite athletes, the physical and mental toil our operatives endure can be huge, especially as site work ramps up a gear with the better weather and longer days.

So we've teamed up with LADSMINDS Charity to provide some really simple tips to keep our lads (and ladies) safe and well, performing at their best and importantly, enjoying the footie this summer!

1. Get moving

You've grafted all day, but a bit of movement outside work still does you good. Walk the dog, kick a ball about, get in the gym, go for a run - whatever works for you.

2. Eat something decent

You can't run on energy drinks, meal deals and whatever's left in the van. Get a proper meal in where you can. Doesn't need to be fancy - just decent fuel - protein, veg, fruit. Meal replacements are better than a Big Mac too. But it's a great excuse for a steak on a weeknight!

3. Get your kip

Poor sleep catches up with you fast. You feel it in your mood, your patience, your concentration and your graft. A good night's sleep makes a bigger difference than most lads admit.

4. Have a word with someone

If something's winding you up, don't just sit on it. Talk to a mate, your gaffer, someone at home, whoever. Most of the time, just saying it out loud takes the weight off.

5. Curb the gambling

During a big footballing event, it’s easy to get carried away. Set yourself a weekly limit and stick to it. Remember, the house always wins!
If you stay within your limit throughout the tournament, treat yourself at the end, anything looks better than empty pockets and a fistful of regrets.

6. Get on the Zeros

It's now much more 'acceptable' to order a pint or grab a bottle of 0%. They taste pretty decent these days and are cheaper too! You never wake up the next morning wishing you'd drank more.

📢 PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT 📢

Last month, during Mental Health Awareness Week, we launched an internal initiative as part of our resolute dedication to the wellbeing of our operatives. Focussing on good nutrition, the initiative has proven to be a huge hit amongst our workforce.

Today we're delighted to announce publicly, that we have officially partnered with WholeSupp!

Providing complete nutrition in just 30 seconds, Whole Supp is a practical solution for our operatives when meal prep is not always possible and time on site is tight. It's a partnership that enables convenience, wellbeing and performance throughout the working day.

We offered up the chance to WIN one of five Ultimate Starter Packs and are giving 50% off ongoing purchases to all DSG employees.

The lucky winners are:

Dereje Jordan, Crane Supervisor
Zak McCausland, Foreman,
Callum Lewis, Carpenter
Vasile Pasca, Steel Fixer Supervisor
Leeann Haughey, Operations Administrator

Congratulations! 💪 🎉 The packs are on their way to you!

We'll be documenting our Whole Supp journey throughout the summer, as both the graft and (hopefully) the goals, ramp up! Stay tuned 👀

This week, we're spotlighting how our values have been prevalent on the A428 Skanska project.

Our operative, Mirjan Mata, recently provided assistance to a member of the public who had come off their motorbike near the works area. Mirjan assisted the individual, assessed the injuries, supported them for shock and escorted them to the security team, where they were kept safe until a family member arrived.

Mirjan embodied all of our values of being Fair, Well, Committed and Courageous and was subsequently nominated for an A428 Stars award.

Thank you Mirjan and enjoy your recognition voucher 👏 ☘️
