Want to work with us? Lets get started!
For every new client, we always start with a consultation. Why? We want to give you a taste of our experience and to guide where our crew can support you the best.

We see or consults as a coaching session for your garden, offering insight into what we see working or not, and helping you brainstorm solutions to issues your garden is facing.

After your consult is complete, we’ll send you a short video of what we discussed and where we think can help! We’ll also send you a link to request a workday with our crew.

Know this. Our goal is to support you as a gardener. Just because you book a consultation, doesn't mean you have to work with us afterwards. Sometimes the consult is enough to inspire you to DIY! Or perhaps you need a more specialized service and we refer you to a company we know that can help. With our experience, we'll make sure you get the best advice possible to move forward.

Have a project in mind? Want to make sure we are a good fit before you book? Send photos and your thoughts to us and we can guide you from there!

Consults can be booked at www.vivantgardens.com

Our relationship with began in 2017.

We are proud to support this incredible organization and the amazing work they do - scientific research on improving bee health and expanding bee populations, while we steward their little pollinator and human havens in the city :)

We encourage you to check them out and buy some honey if you can!

Much love to . Looking forward to many more opportunities to support pollinators and maintain rooftop gardens across the city.

You may have wondered, when is the best time for watering my plants? Fortunately, for you early birds out there, watering in the morning is best.

Why not other times?
Watering during the hottest point of the day risks scorching and shocking plants and high evaporation rates. Watering at night can accidentally create perfectly cool humid nights for fungus and mildew issues. Avoid that powdery mildew and rust!

Watering in the morning is by far the best time to water your plants. The soil is cool and can absorb more moisture. Your plants will be all set to survive the days' hottest points and the leaves can dry out completely to stay healthy.

So grab your coffee and your hose - start your day with plants 🙂

Headed out on vacation and need someone to do the watering for you? We can help! Our team is ready to watch over your garden while you are away.

One way that we can all work to be more sustainable gardeners is to limit how much water we're using. That starts with how we apply our water, or more so, where we apply it.

Each day, the water on your plants leaves and in the top inch or two of soil evaporates in the sunlight and summer heat.

Avoid the high water bills by watering your plants where they can actually use it - right at the roots, using a soaker hose or spray right at the soil, so you can make every drop count. As a bonus, you'll also avoid many fungal issues in your plants by keeping the leaf tissues dry.

Spring was mild and lovely and wet this year, but the dog days of Summer have finally arrived and with gusto!

It can be hard to know if you should water after so much rain and if so, how much?

We’ll be posting some helpful tips here over the next few days to guide your garden and you through this July weather whiplash. Here are some helpful tips.

Tip 1: To know if your garden needs water, you are doing to need to get your hands dirty. Go head and plunge a trowel, shovel or just your finger into the soil. When you get a couple inches down, is it moist? If so, go wash the mud off your fingers and relax. The garden is fine. If it’s dry, it’s time to do some watering.

Tip 2: Watering perennials is not like watering lawn. It’s better to water deeper than often. A 20 min daily sprinkle doesn't reach deep enough and keeps your roots at the surface where they dry out quickly.

Instead, water 2 times a week and opt for either a LONG Shower with the sprinkler (45 mins ish) or spray the hose for 10 full seconds per plant to encourage roots to follow that water deeper into the soil where they will stay cool and moist even on the hottest days.

And know - we will be releasing a workshop about water and gardens in the next month and would love you to see it. Learn more at https://10for10.vivantgardens.com/

So, you have poor soil?

It's not uncommon for city gardens to have poor soil. After it has been tilled and abused by lawn professionals and construction teams, most of the good microbes are killed, root levels are disturbed, and overall soil structure is shot.

So what do we do?

Treating poor soil is a long game, but here are a few nuggets of advice to start.

One of the tools that has made a huge difference in how we run Vivant is the Jobber app.

As our business grew, we outgrew our own organizational skills and calendars. We started with Keap, but then grew out of that too! We needed something that could better support scheduling, team communication, time tracking, expenses, and keeping all the moving pieces of a growing garden company organized without overwhelming us with too many bells and whistles.

Jobber has been a great fit. And they're currently offering a referral bonus, so we figured we'd share the opportunity.

If you're a service-based business owner looking for a way to simplify operations, it might be worth a look. Have questions about how we use it or whether it might be a good fit for your business? Send us a DM—happy to share our experience.
