Charlton and Blackheath Amateur Horticultural Society meets at 7pm on the 3rd Monday of each month

The society meets once a month and holds regular gardening talks by guest speakers. There is also a Spring Show and an Autumn Show where members can display their flowers and vegetables. Membership is open to anyone who enjoys gardening and would like to join a friendly group with similar interests. Visitors welcome but please let us know, as we sometimes have space issues.

Our annual amateur GQT was very successful, with 65 members sharing their experiences, successes and failures! We kicked off with an evening stroll round the walled gardens, then in to the beautiful Old Library for the questions. Terrys demo on taking cuttings was very popular. Our May meeting featured a really entertaining talk from local author Sandra Lawrence about horticulturalist Miss Ellen Willmott, a wonderful Show Table, a plant sale, raffle, refreshments from Frillys, held in the grand setting of the Old Library at Charlton House.

See if you can spot the twelve trees the garden volunteers have featured in their new Tree Trail! Launching next Sunday May 17, 11-3, at the Plant Sale in the Peace Garden. Totally Tangerine time! Irises and wisteria looking pretty stunning too. Garden volunteers and CABAHS members are potting up like mad, come and visit on Sunday May 17 from 11, and buy a plant or three. Cakes from the WI, local honey and other crafts, Frillys cafe open, other stalls too. See you soon!

What’s better that a Plant Sale? Two plant sales of course! Sunday May 17, 11-3, locally grown plants, sourced either from CABAHS members gardens in aid of the Community Hospice, or from Charlton House Gardens, grown on by the garden volunteers and sold to support the development of the beautiful gardens. Come along and talk all things Plants with our knowledgeable members!
