Our meeting on Monday features guest speaker Selina Ozanne, head gardener at The Exchange, Erith, on her work at this beautiful local garden. There will be a Show Table as usual - this picture is from August last year, it will be a challenge to match it this year! Seed heads display perhaps..

Save the date!! RGHT Charlton House & Gardens is taking part in Open House Festival 2026. The house and gardens will be open to everyone on Saturday 12th September (10am-5pm) as part of the annual free event.

Join us for a guided tour, including a special architectural tour, or just turn up and wander around the house and gardens. The stories of the house are connected to the local community, in particular St Luke’s Church, just across the road. Charlton Church will also be open and offering tours of the church and the tower.

- Grab a snack on the front lawn

Show Table at our recent meeting, looking good! Our guest speaker was Graham Spencer from Plants For Europe Limited who shared his expertise on Hardy geraniums, with an entertaining and interesting talk. Our meeting was held in the beautiful Old Library at Charlton House. See link in our bio for more.

Another hot volunteer session in the gardens 🥵, (cats and kids welcome! ). Echinacea having a moment, varieties are Pretty Parasols and Magnus. Salvia yangii (aka Perovskia, aka Russian sage) loving the heat, teasels reaching peak pollinator attraction and daylillies still going strong!

Dreamy, drought resistant, daylillies will be for sale during volunteer sessions, Tues 2-4 and Thurs 10-12, in the small walled gardens, while stocks last!

Our annual amateur GQT was very successful, with 65 members sharing their experiences, successes and failures! We kicked off with an evening stroll round the walled gardens, then in to the beautiful Old Library for the questions. Terrys demo on taking cuttings was very popular. Our May meeting featured a really entertaining talk from local author Sandra Lawrence about horticulturalist Miss Ellen Willmott, a wonderful Show Table, a plant sale, raffle, refreshments from Frillys, held in the grand setting of the Old Library at Charlton House.
