There's a difference between an engineer who covers Essex and an engineer who actually knows Essex.

Dean has lived and worked in the Wickford area for years. He knows the houses, the typical boiler set-ups, the older systems that come with them, and the issues that crop up time and again in properties around here.

He covers Wickford, Southend-on-Sea, Billericay, Brentwood, Harlow, Colchester, Braintree, and the surrounding areas. Local enough to know the area, broad enough to be there when you need him.

What you don't get is a call centre routing your job to whichever subcontractor is closest. You get Dean. The same engineer every time.

It's why 90+ Essex homeowners have left five-star reviews on Google. The personal continuity is what people remember.

If your heating needs attention, you'll get a straight answer, a fair price, and the same engineer turning up that you spoke to on the phone. Give Dean a call or drop him a message on WhatsApp. 07585 891644 🏡

You've bled the radiators. They're still cold at the bottom.

Bleeding releases trapped air, which is the simplest cause of cold spots. But if cold spots come back week after week, the problem is usually deeper. It's sludge.

Over time, rust, debris, and corrosion build up inside the central heating system. The thicker the build-up, the harder it is for hot water to circulate properly. That's when you start seeing:

‣ Radiators that take ages to heat up ‣ Cold patches at the bottom of radiators ‣ Banging or knocking noises from the pipes ‣ Slow response from the heating in general ‣ Higher energy bills for the same amount of warmth

A power flush is the proper fix. It cleans the entire system using specialist equipment, removing the sludge and restoring circulation. Most domestic systems take around four to six hours, and the difference afterwards is noticeable.

Dean has carried out power flushes across Essex for two decades. He'll have a proper look at the system first and only recommend a power flush if it's actually what your system needs. No pushing work that isn't required. 💧

Some engineers turn up, glance at the boiler, and call it a service. That's not a service.

A proper annual boiler service takes time, and it follows a standard set of checks.

Done properly, an annual service keeps most warranties valid, picks up small issues before they become expensive ones, and gives you confidence that your boiler is running safely.

If you've got tenants in an Essex property, this is the certificate you can't skip.

Landlords are legally required to have a gas safety check carried out on rental properties every 12 months. The check confirms that all gas appliances, the boiler, the flue, and the pipework are safe to use. On completion, a Gas Safety Certificate, the CP12, is issued, and a copy must be provided to your tenants.

Skipping it isn't just a paperwork problem. It's a legal one. Penalties for non-compliance can be significant, and insurers will often refuse to cover incidents in properties without a current certificate.

Summer is the right time to sort it. Less pressure, faster availability, and Dean can typically combine the check with an annual boiler service in the same visit. Two jobs, one appointment, one engineer you know.

Dean is Gas Safe registered, has been carrying out CP12 checks for Essex landlords for over 20 years, and is backed by 90+ five-star reviews on Google.

This kind of message lands quietly in the inbox, but it says everything.

"We have used Dean lots of times for both gas & plumbing needs since we got the keys to our first home last November. Not only is he super reliable and knowledgeable, we feel he goes the extra mile for us as his customer every time he's here."

That's from Daniel, an Essex homeowner who left a five-star review on Google in early 2026.

What stands out isn't just the kind words. It's that he's used Dean lots of times. That's not what you get from a national call centre that sends a different engineer every visit. It's what you get from one trusted local engineer who turns up when he says he will and treats your home properly.

Over 90 Essex homeowners have left five-star reviews on Google saying much the same thing. ⭐

If you're looking for that kind of relationship with your heating engineer, give Dean a call or send a WhatsApp. 07585 891644

Your boiler probably hasn't crossed your mind in weeks. That's the perfect reason to think about it now.

Annual servicing is the single most important thing you can do to keep your heating safe, efficient, and reliable. It also keeps most manufacturer warranties valid, which matters more than people realise.

What does it actually achieve?

✔️ Safety checks on the gas supply, flue, and ventilation ✔️ Cleaning of internal components that slowly clog up over the year ✔️ Pressure and controls checked and adjusted ✔️ A flue gas analysis that shows whether the boiler is burning efficiently ✔️ A written report on the condition of your system

Summer is genuinely the right time. Engineers have more availability, you're not booking under pressure, and anything that needs attention can be sorted well before the autumn rush.

Dean has been servicing boilers across Essex for over 20 years and is Gas Safe registered, Vaillant Pro accredited, and backed by over 90 five-star reviews on Google.

Summer might feel like the last time you'd think about your heating. It's actually the best time to deal with it.

Availability is better. There's no pressure to get things done before the cold sets in. And if anything takes a bit longer or needs a part ordered, it doesn't create the same stress it would in October.
Whether you've been putting off a boiler service, thinking about a replacement, considering a power flush, or just want a system health check before autumn, sorting it now means you start the colder months with everything working properly.

Dean covers homes throughout Essex and carries out servicing, boiler replacements, power flushes, and system checks year-round.
Backed by 80+ five-star reviews from local homeowners. 🌞

Most people don't give their thermostat much thought. But if you've got an old dial or basic programmable unit, there's a reasonable chance it's working against your heating rather than with it.

A few signs yours might need replacing:

❌ The temperature in your home never quite matches what the dial says
❌ You're heating rooms at times when nobody is in them
❌ You can't adjust the heating without physically going to the unit
❌ Your energy bills feel higher than they should for the amount of warmth you're getting

Upgrading to a smart thermostat won't fix a poorly performing boiler, but it can make a well-functioning system considerably more efficient. Being able to set schedules that match how you actually live, and adjust things from your phone when plans change, makes a real practical difference.

Dean installs a range of smart thermostats across Essex, including Hive, Nest, and Honeywell, and will check compatibility with your existing system before recommending anything.

It's often a straightforward half-day job and one of the more cost-effective heating upgrades you can make.

When you call Dean Heating, you get Dean. When the van arrives, it's Dean. That might sound like a small thing. In a trade full of large companies and call centres, it's actually quite rare.

Dean Boyle has over 20 years in the heating industry. He learned the trade from his father, then spent 15 years with British Gas and five with npower before setting up on his own. He started Dean Heating because he believed customers deserved a better, more personal experience than the big firms were offering.

What that means in practice is simple. You speak to the same person who will carry out the work. There's no passing the problem between teams, no strangers showing up on your doorstep, and no one recommending work they don't fully understand.

That kind of continuity is what Essex homeowners have come to rely on. It's also why over 80 of them have left five-star reviews on Google and Checkatrade.

13/05/2026

If your radiators are warm at the bottom but cold at the top, the likely culprit is trapped air in the system. Bleeding them is one of the simplest things you can do yourself, and it takes about five minutes.
Here's what to do:

① Turn the heating on and let everything get up to temperature. Then switch it off and give it ten minutes to cool slightly.

② Use a radiator bleed key (available from any DIY shop) to open the small valve at the top corner of the radiator, just a quarter turn anti-clockwise. Hold a cloth or small bowl underneath.

③ You'll hear a hiss as the trapped air escapes. Once water starts to come out steadily, close the valve again.

④ Check your boiler pressure afterwards. Bleeding can cause it to drop slightly, so top it up via the filling loop if needed.

If you've bled the radiators and cold spots keep coming back, it can be a sign of something else going on in the system, such as sludge build-up or a deeper circulation problem. That's when it's worth getting Dean in for a proper look.
