🐞🕷️ Autumn spider season… who else checks the room before getting comfortable? 😩🤣

I might run a pest control company, but spiders are still one of my biggest fears!

At this time of year, male house spiders are often out looking for a mate — which explains those unexpected appearances across the living room floor!

Our latest leaflet shares simple ways to reduce visitors, from sealing small gaps to fitting suitable mesh vents while keeping essential airflow clear.

🏡 My own tip? I fitted Toolstation flyscreen louvre vents at home. Since then, I haven’t noticed any more slugs indoors, and the number of spiders has dramatically reduced. That’s my personal experience, rather than a guarantee — but it’s made a noticeable difference!

Dont usually do posts like this but we was called out to find out how rats were entering this home, after our initial inspection we suspected rats were entering via the sewer as no obvious ingress points around the perimeter of the property. We baited the sewer and when we returned to carry out the inspection in the sewer we found this dead rat. The client had 2 redundant lines that lazy builders didnt cap off when building the extension and it left a front door open for rats.

Did you know that the type of fly you’re seeing can often tell us exactly where the problem is coming from?

From house flies and blow flies to drain flies, fruit flies and fungus gnats, each species is attracted to something different—and simply spraying insecticide is rarely enough to solve the problem.

⚠️ Flies can carry harmful bacteria including:
• Salmonella
• E. coli
• Campylobacter
• Listeria
• Shigella

These bacteria can be transferred onto food preparation surfaces simply by flies landing after visiting waste, drains or animal matter.
